The most honest opinion about a movie, at the end of the day, wasn't through a written review or word of mouth; it was during the credit roll.
Through people's smiles, groans, sighs, whether they stayed to discuss the movie or immediately left because it wasn't worth it...it was an honest indication of people's genuine reception. Of course, during a test screening, most would always stay to have some discussion. But even this discussion, filled with commentary that had yet to be influenced by the review and critics outside, was a form of honest reception.
And Eugene was sinking into his seat, nibbling on the popcorn he hadn't touched for the whole movie, while listening to the murmurs around him.
"It's better than I thought, honestly," the group they tailed to blend in before the movie started whispered among themselves.
"I mean...I'd prefer they focus on one thing—gender or romance—but I guess it's not bad."
