One morning, Eugene opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling in a daze. For the first time in a while, he woke up naturally, not because he wanted to run to the bathroom to throw up. He spent a few minutes lying down, stroking his stomach and wondering if it was delayed.
And when he didn't feel it even after more than five minutes had passed, Eugene gasped and sat up.
Was this...the miracle of big sister pep-talk?
Eugene got out of bed and dashed out of the bedroom. "Hana!" he called out for his daughter, who he was sure was no longer in her bed. "Hana, baby—where are you?"
"Papa?" a voice came from outside. It seemed like the girl was in the middle of helping her grandpapa with the garden. She turned her head toward the house when she heard Eugene's voice, and immediately gasped. "Papa, why are you running? It's dange—"
"Baby!" Eugene hugged the startled girl, whose arms were raised high to not dirty her papa. "You're a magician—no, a witch! A magic whisperer."
