When they arrived home, Mr. Edwards and Elizabeth were already there. It seemed like he was calling Eugene while driving to their house so he could arrive before the prosecutor. That was what was nice about having a family lawyer—they really were dedicated.
Ian, meanwhile, was understandably pale. He wasn't the type who could accept a surprise encounter easily, much less something as nerve-wracking as this without any preparation. Even though they knew the prosecutor would talk to them one of these days, he still wished it wouldn't be a surprise visit.
Giving a 'warning' just half an hour before felt more like fulfilling their promise to inform Mr. Edwards.
"When you said informing ahead of time, I thought it was at least a one-day notice," Eugene spilled his grievances right away while rubbing his dad's cold hands. Not even a thick wool blanket could warm a chill coming from within.
