Chapter 64 - I'm Not Human in Yu-Gi-Oh Chapter 64

Chapter 64: A Duelist's Potential?

Spirit power and dark power are opposites.

Fallen spirits usually undergo a transformation into dark energy.

Silent Magician judged that there should be a powerful Spellcaster-type spirit lingering in this school, and this spirit was gradually showing signs of losing control.

This "human skeleton" prop had just been contaminated by its energy and went out of control.

The root cause was probably that this spirit hadn't found a suitable master.

For a powerful Monster Spirit to find a master isn't that simple; the intricacies involved are more complex than human matchmaking.

First, finding someone who can see spirits and communicate with them is already difficult.

On top of that, both parties need to hit it off—it's a mutual attraction!

Simply put, spirits have the right to choose their duelists, and duelists have the same choice.

For a wild spirit to find a suitable duelist master to entrust its life to is extremely hard.

This flying, rampaging skeleton model caused a huge controversy.

Yugi and the others rushed here from other places.

This haunted house tour seemed unlikely to be completed.

The male student organizing the haunted house here stood up and shouted angrily:

"I recognize this skeleton; it's a prop from the biology room over there, right?"

"Which idiot moved that thing here!"

Things were quickly clarified. Someone, seeking convenience, had directly moved this human skeleton from the biology room to use as a prop here.

Little did they expect that the rumors of it being haunted seemed to have some truth to them.

Ding~

The Millennium Puzzle on Yugi's body began to glow.

In an instant!

The Nameless Pharaoh, this professional account-taker, came online.

Different from Yugi Muto, the Nameless Pharaoh's gaze was aggressive and sharp.

It didn't seem to be an illusion. Even though they shared the same body, once the Nameless Pharaoh came online, his height suddenly seemed to increase.

"Something's not right about this; let's go check it out," Yami Yugi suggested.

"I think so too," Yu Miao instinctively agreed with Yami Yugi.

The two looked at each other. In this first eye contact, each could feel a strange energy emanating from the other.

Go explore the haunted rumors?

Téa clenched her fist; she looked utterly thrilled!

And so, Yu Miao and Yugi's group headed towards that abandoned school building.

The classmates present watched their departing figures with looks of "admirable courage."

"People who skip class all the time without Sure enough, have great guts."

The abandoned school building.

Third floor.

Led by Yugi and the others, Yu Miao followed them to this floor.

Joey pushed open the biology room door with his usual brashness. A wave of dusty air hit them.

"Cough, cough, cough!" The strong, pungent smell assaulted them, making it somewhat hard to breathe.

At a glance, the entire room was filled with all sorts of test tubes and instruments. Various human skeleton models were lined up against the walls all around.

"That flying skeleton model from the haunted house really was moved from this place," Mai Valentine looked around and said helplessly, "But this is just an ordinary abandoned classroom. Where's all that mysterious, spooky stuff?"

"Mai, that's not right," Yami Yugi placed one hand on his hip. His sharp eyes looked towards the left wall, where at the very top hung a painting of sagebrush.

And right next to this painting, there was clearly a staircase emitting black mist, extending upwards.

So, where did this staircase lead?

"Huh? I don't see anything."

"Me neither."

"Yugi, are you sure you're not hallucinating?"

Joey, Téa, and the others, like Mai, couldn't see anything. Clearly, there was no upward staircase on the left.

Only Yu Miao spoke up: "There is a staircase, right there!"

Following where Yu Miao pointed, Téa and the others still only saw a wall; they couldn't see any so-called staircase.

"Only Yugi and Yu Miao can see the staircase?" Mai Valentine's expression was shocked. She stated this extremely unscientific truth.

"I can see it too," Téa, standing behind Yu Miao, followed his pointing finger. As her vision gradually adjusted, a strange staircase leading upwards indeed appeared.

Such a thing?

Mai and the others imitated Téa's action.

They indeed discovered a staircase that shouldn't exist, right next to the painting hanging on the wall.

Joey and the others... were stunned.

So, the haunted rumors were actually true?

"I really want to make that bastard Kaiba come see this place."

"So he doesn't keep spouting 'science' all the time, kisama."

Faced with this supernatural phenomenon, Joey's first thought was to try and shatter Seto Kaiba's worldview.

Just imagining Kaiba's panicked expression as his worldview crumbled—for some reason, Joey felt an indescribable sense of secret glee.

Rising directly from his heels to the crown of his head—so satisfying!!

"Let's go." Both Yugi and Yu Miao seemed to feel an instinctive pull. They each stepped onto this staircase.

Téa and the others exchanged glances and finally followed them up.

"..."

Walking up the steps, they finally arrived at a place where the path ahead was shrouded in black mist.

"20 steps," Téa spoke up. She had been counting the steps while walking.

Regarding this number, Joey and Mai had different views.

They had been counting too; it was clearly 25 steps, not 20.

"That's not right; it should be 30 steps," Yu Miao and Yugi said in unison.

Each person who came up the stairs felt a different number of steps.

At this moment, Tristan, who had been keeping a low profile, spoke up timidly: "Um... I only counted 18."

Honda looked helpless. He often felt he wasn't eccentric enough to fit in with these people.

Only Téa inadvertently said something:

"Is it based on duelist potential?"

"In that case, it seems I have more potential than Honda, huh?"

Duelist potential?

Once it involved card games, this reasoning seemed to become very logical because this was the Yu-Gi-Oh! world.

"You are indeed strong; I look forward to having a duel with you," Yugi said to Yu Miao, his inner card-playing itch slowly being aroused.

"Oh, I look forward to it too," Yu Miao responded to the Nameless Pharaoh.

The two seemed to sense that in the future, during Duel City, there would inevitably be a fierce battle between them.

Only Mai Valentine watched the mutual admiration between Yugi and Yu Miao with an inscrutable gaze.

She felt displeased inside.

Duelist potential?

Mai believed she was not weaker than "You."

Losing to Yugi in the last Duel Kingdom was a fact, but Mai didn't believe she was inferior to Yugi.

Coming to Domino City this time, Mai was here to prove herself.

As for this Yu Miao?

What gives him the right!

The setting here wasn't quite right; otherwise, Mai would have challenged Yu Miao.

She didn't believe in this "duelist potential" Téa talked about. Mai only believed in the outcome of a duel.
