Mike had no idea where Tolu was, and even though he knew he should probably be worried, he was not.
Mike was relieved.
Ever since he told her about the divorce, he had expected her to react in a way that would be totally over the moon. Exaggerated. Dramatic.
Maybe a little bit of threats and angry tears.
But apart from the fight they had, Mike hadn't laid an eye on her. The only thing she seemed to have taken with her was her cell phone.
And even though Mike felt as though he should call her, he didn't.
Maybe it was better this way. If she stayed far away and never came back, his life would finally have the semblance of being normal.
So he went about his day to day activities. Mike went on to work, ignored the general world as best as he could, and spent the rest of his days at home.
That night, before he went to sleep, Mike had been so tired. His body ached with exhaustion, so he took a sleeping pill.
