Chapter 105 - Humanity And Evolution

The passage over the human outpost was a nerve-wracking stretch of utter silence. Adam's Deep Camouflage strained at its limits, stretching to envelop Ignis's massive draconic form and Lilith's distinctive silhouette. They could see the pinpricks of campfires below, hear the muted clang of armor and low voices. A sentry looked up once, squinting, but saw only the natural gloom of the cavern ceiling.

No shouts of alarm rang out. No magical probes lanced towards them. The humans remained oblivious, focused on their perimeter and their wounded.

As they cleared the outpost and entered a maze of narrower, older tunnels, a collective tension drained from them. Ignis let out a slow, steamy breath she seemed to have been holding. "They didn't see us," she whispered, the sound a rumble in her chest.

"Your control was impeccable, Ignis," Lilith commended quietly, her eyes still scanning the receding camp. "And your skill, Adam, remains a formidable asset."
