Chapter 75 - Chapter 75: When the Monster Became Warm.

Captian watched her movements. Seeing her curl up and cover herself completely, shrinking into a little ball like a frightened kitten, made his heart melt for a moment.

He turned on the lights in the room, and immediately afterward, an emotionless voice echoed:

"What are you hiding in there for? Come out."

...

I curled tighter under the blanket, my whole body trembling, my eyes burning red from fear. When I suddenly heard Captian's voice, I froze. Why was his voice here? Did that mean the figure I'd just seen really was him?

I swallowed hard and carefully lifted a corner of the blanket, only revealing my wet eyes. My pupils darted everywhere as I secretly checked my surroundings. Seeing how stupidly terrified I looked, Captian unexpectedly softened. He didn't say anything. He simply grabbed my wrist and pulled me out of the blanket.

I yelped in surprise and fell straight into a warm chest. When I looked up, my gaze crashed into those deep, fathomless eyes. That pale face, those sharp features, yes, it was really Captian.

Showing up in my room in the middle of the night like that, he truly was crazy. He scared me to death; I genuinely thought it was a ghost.

Catching the panic in my eyes, Captian frowned. "Am I that frightening?"

Enough to make me hide under my blanket, apparently.

I was about to shake my head, but then I remembered how terrified I had been, and my eyes turned red again. I nodded pitifully as I complained under his cold gaze. "President Anderson, you really scared me just now. I was sleeping so well, and suddenly there was a silhouette right beside my bed. Anyone would be terrified. Please don't appear in my room out of nowhere like that again. If you scare me to death, then I… I won't be able to see you anymore."

"You really want to see me?" he raised an eyebrow, his cold voice carrying a faint hint of amusement.

I blinked and forced a smile. "Of course. President Anderson is so handsome and treats me so well. Naturally, I hope I can see you every day."

As if.

I cursed internally nonstop, but on the outside I showered him with sweet compliments, my voice honey-soft enough to melt anyone.

Captian stared at me quietly, his gaze dark and unreadable. I lowered my head and suddenly froze. I wasn't wearing any underwear. My nightgown was thin, and leaning against him like this let me feel his body heat far too clearly. It almost felt like I had nothing on at all. Too ambiguous. And this man was already dangerous enough.

I wriggled in his arms a little, my voice sweet but tinged with nervousness. "President Anderson, I'm really sleepy. Can I go back to bed and continue sleeping? You must be tired from working too, why don't you rest?"

"Alright." He lowered his head slightly, his voice murmured against my shoulder.

His breath brushed my skin; the faint scent of him made my heart quiver.

My eyes widened in surprise. I didn't expect him to agree that easily. I slipped out of his arms at once and scrambled back onto the bed, wrapping myself tightly in my blanket and only letting my round eyes peek out, this felt like the safest way to survive.

Captian looked at my bright wide eyes but didn't leave. Instead, he began unbuttoning his coat. After taking it off, he moved on to his shirt. One button at a time. I could clearly see his well-built chest, perfectly sculpted.

But I had no mood to admire anything.

Why was he undressing?

Was he planning to do something indecent again?

Was he not afraid of being stabbed a second time?!

Before I could think further, he lifted the blanket and slipped in beside me. His arms locked around my waist, refusing to let go no matter how much I squirmed. His body heat pressed against me, making me stiffen in fear.

"President Anderson… aren't you going back to your room?" I asked, voice shaking.

He didn't respond. He simply rested his head in the hollow of my neck, his warm breath brushing against my ear, intimate, suggestive, terrifying.

I swallowed. I didn't dare say anything stupid, afraid he'd suddenly turn into a beast again.

After a long silence, he finally spoke. "Tomorrow, come with me to the Anderson main house."

I blinked in confusion. "The Anderson main house? Isn't this already the Anderson house?"

His arms tightened around my waist. His voice remained serious, patient even. "This is just the villa. The main residence is where the entire family gathers. They're hosting a family banquet tomorrow. You're going with me."

Because of the commotion online, everyone already knew he'd registered his marriage. Naturally the Anderson family heard the news too.

They'd called today inviting him, and wanting to meet their 'new young wife.'

But was it really just a simple introduction?

Captian's quiet, mocking laugh told me otherwise.

"Oh… alright then." I nodded. Suddenly, the grip on my waist tightened like a clamp. It hurt. I let out a small whimper, unable to hide my discomfort. "President Anderson… you're squeezing too hard… it hurts…"

My complaint wasn't strong at all; in fact, it came out soft and slightly whiny, unintentionally seductive. Captian narrowed his eyes, watching me like a hunter eyeing prey.

"Sleep. Stop talking nonsense." His voice was low and hoarse.

I immediately slapped a hand over my mouth. Talking nonsense at this hour was basically asking for death. Thankfully, he didn't explode. Otherwise, I would've scolded myself too.

Neither of us spoke after that. Held tightly in his warmth, I drifted off into sleep.

When I woke the next morning, the space beside me was empty. But on my nightstand sat a gift box likely left by Captian.

Inside was a pale yellow dress. The color was elegant, youthful, and fresh. When I held it up, the design looked simple compared to the pink bow dress from before. Honestly, it wasn't as pretty. But after putting it on, the soft yellow made my skin look even fairer, like translucent white jade. The cinched waist perfectly highlighted my figure. It fit so well it was almost unbelievable.

He must have chosen it himself.

Strange… he didn't pick pink this time.

Holding the skirt, I walked out. Morning sunlight streamed in, coating me in a thin halo of soft gold, making me stand out like something luminous.

I looked toward the stairs but didn't see Captian anywhere.

Didn't he say we were going to the Anderson main house today?

Why disappear first thing in the morning?

Did he forget? Or was he intentionally ditching me?

I frowned, suddenly unsure how to feel. Honestly, being ditched wasn't too bad. I didn't want to go anyway, family gatherings meant relatives, and relatives meant trouble.

I was about to return to my room when I saw someone waving at me from downstairs.

It was Ronan.

"Sis-in-law! Come down!"

I gathered up the hem of my dress and hurried downstairs, asking with a small smile, "What's wrong? Is your kidney acting up again?"
