Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: The Name in the Shadows

Dawn Over a Restless Tower

Morning came slowly to the Witch Academy.

Not peacefully.

The massive spiral tower stood intact, but the air around it felt… thinner. Tense. As if the very aether flow had been disturbed and had not yet fully recovered.

Inside the Celestial Warriors' quarters, no one was truly well-rested.

The events of the night had made sure of that.

---

The Gathering

All twelve Celestial Warriors assembled in the central living room.

The circular chamber—warmly lit by floating witch-lamps—felt more like a war council than shared housing now.

Nero sat upright but pale, Sofia beside him, her Nature energy gently stabilizing his injuries.

Emma leaned slightly against Kai, still recovering from earlier strain.

Serena and Kael stood near the window, quietly observing the morning light.

Mia and Rafael remained close together near the strategy table.

Seraphina and Zane lingered in the shadows of the room, both unusually alert.

And at the center—

Lyra stood beside Orion.

Their hands were already intertwined.

Not for show.

For stability.

Orion's Sun aura pulsed faintly, subtly reinforcing her still-sensitive Phoenix Flame.

Headmistress Morgana stood before them.

Composed.

Serious.

Watching them all carefully.

---

Morgana's Assessment

"The intruder last night," Morgana began calmly, "was not a full manifestation."

Serena frowned slightly.

"A projection?"

"Yes," Morgana confirmed. "A high-grade shadow proxy. Designed to probe our defenses and—"

Her violet eyes shifted briefly to Lyra.

"—to test resonance reactions."

Lyra's grip on Orion's hand tightened slightly.

Morgana did not miss it.

"However," the headmistress continued, "the attempt revealed something valuable."

With a wave of her hand, a complex witch sigil formed in the air above the table.

Three interlocking crescent marks appeared within it.

One already familiar.

Selmara.

Another sharp and narrow.

Velmira.

And the third—

A spiraled, thorned crescent unlike the others.

The room grew still.

---

The Third Witch Revealed

Morgana's voice lowered slightly.

"The final member of the Arcane Trio…"

The sigil pulsed.

"…is called Noctyra."

The name seemed to darken the air itself.

Seraphina's eyes narrowed immediately.

"…Night-binding authority."

Zane nodded once.

"Predator type."

Morgana inclined her head slightly in approval.

"Correct. Among the Trio, Noctyra specializes in precision destabilization, emotional fracture, and divine-core interference."

Every gaze in the room shifted—

Toward Lyra.

Lyra felt it.

But she didn't look away.

Instead, her Phoenix Flame ignited softly in her palm.

Steady.

Controlled.

"…So she's the one targeting me."

Morgana did not soften the truth.

"Yes."

---

Strategic Reality

Kael folded his arms.

"They're escalating in phases."

"Exactly," Morgana said.

She expanded the projection.

Phase markers appeared:

Phase One: Corrupted witch probes

Phase Two: Dual pressure suppression

Phase Three (current): Targeted destabilization

Rafael exhaled slowly.

"They're softening us before committing fully."

"More precisely," Morgana corrected gently,

"they are softening Lyra."

Silence fell.

Heavy.

Because everyone knew what that implied.

---

Lyra's Response

For a moment—

Just a moment—

Old fear flickered in Lyra's eyes.

The memory of her first death.

The whisper of Nyx.

The instability from yesterday.

It all tried to surface.

But then—

Orion's thumb brushed gently across her knuckles.

Warm.

Steady.

Grounding.

Lyra inhaled slowly.

When she spoke, her voice was calm.

Firm.

"Then we stop waiting."

Twelve pairs of eyes sharpened.

Her Phoenix Flame burned brighter.

Not wild.

Not unstable.

Focused.

"They want to hunt me?" Lyra continued.

A small, dangerous smile touched her lips.

"Then we hunt back."

---

The Counter-Hunt Begins

Morgana's expression shifted—just slightly.

Approval.

Good.

"They will attempt another precision strike within the next two days," Morgana said.

She waved her hand again.

The Witch Tower schematic appeared in full.

Ancient layers.

Hidden corridors.

Leyline veins.

"Your objective is simple," she continued.

"Find where Noctyra is anchoring her remote interference… and sever it."

Serena's light flared softly.

"We move as one unit."

Kael nodded.

"No more easy probes."

Zane's shadow stretched along the floor.

"Next time she reaches in…"

Seraphina finished quietly:

"…we bite back."

---

Final Moment — Quiet Before Movement

As the meeting broke, the warriors began preparing.

Gear checked.

Formations discussed.

Energy stabilized.

But before they separated—

Orion gently pulled Lyra back for a moment.

Just the two of them near the balcony window.

Morning sunlight spilled across them.

Soft.

Golden.

"You okay?" he asked quietly.

Lyra looked up at him.

For once…

No flicker.

No instability.

Just steady fire in her eyes.

She rose slightly on her toes—

And pressed a soft, lingering kiss to his lips.

Warm.

Certain.

When she pulled back, her voice was quiet but fierce.

"They think I'm the weak point."

Orion's forehead rested lightly against hers.

"They're about to learn otherwise."

Outside—

High above the Witch Tower—

Something in the clouds shifted.

Because Noctyra was already watching.

And she was very interested.
