Feeling the night breeze caressing his hair, the young man couldn't help but let out a sigh. The moon shone down on him, illuminating his path, and he could hear the faint chirping of crickets in the air.
His boots crunched lightly as he walked along the stony path that led to the beautiful meadow. He didn't know why, but his feet were leading him there.
Toleran Academy had a large campus, and with it came hidden gems like a hiking trail that led up to the small mountains scattered across the area. There was also a forest not too far from the entrance of the school, and finally, the meadow.
Kenneth followed the familiar bend in the path, the stones cool under his soles, and the faint smell of dew carried on the breeze. The farther he walked, the quieter everything became. Even the crickets felt distant, their voices fading into the soft hush of night as the meadow came into view.
It was beautiful, even wrapped in darkness.
