Most people don't believe in silly things like fate and destiny. These were abstract concepts that had no logical or scientific explanations. There was no proof that our lives were preordained, that three women in charge of weaving, measuring, and cutting the thread that would decide what would happen to a person.
Most people liked to think they were in charge of their destiny. The choices they made were their own, and there wasn't some grandeur or magical forces pulling the strings. Things like true love or soulmates weren't actually real. We pick and choose who we wish to spend the rest of our lives with. But what if there was a biological chip implanted into our brains since birth that determined and controlled who they were compatible with and who they had the greatest chemistry? Would you argue that something rooted in science couldn't possibly be real?
