Chapter 61 - Chapter 61

Within just a few minutes inside the Haoshoku (Conqueror's Haki) Domain, Kaido had already passed out, knocked unconscious purely by brute force.

Seeing how little punishment Kaido could actually take, Doflamingo dispelled the Haoshoku (Conqueror's Haki) Domain and began to summarize this past month of fighting.

To be honest, Kaido was very strong, and in the future he indeed deserved to be called one of the Four Emperors.

In the original story, the "child of the world" Luffy being able to win was completely due to protagonist armor. If Oda, who only knows how to draw manga, hadn't forcibly suppressed Kaido's Devil Fruit awakening, then Luffy could have collapsed in Wano just like that.

Of course, there was one thing that was very beneficial about fighting Kaido: Kaido seemed to enjoy letting his opponents grow stronger, in other words, feeding them moves.

The reason was obvious enough to Doflamingo. Kaido simply wanted to learn new techniques from his opponents, so he would give them a chance first, then strike when they were exposed.

You had to admit Kaido was a "talent" to be able to come up with such a method.

However, this method had a flaw. If the opponent was forever weaker than him, it was fine. But once the opponent surpassed him, Kaido would end up exactly like this.

Not bothering to care whether Kaido was dead or alive, Doflamingo thought that since he was already near Wano, there was no reason not to go have a look.

Counting the time, Oden should not yet have boarded Whitebeard's ship; he was still the daimyo of Kuri.

As for Oden, Doflamingo did not have any good feelings toward him, you could even say he felt a bit of disgust.

If he had the chance, Doflamingo wanted to get rid of Oden.

Nothing complicated. On one hand, Oden's son was even more annoying. On the other hand, he wanted to lighten Kaido's burden a little.

Of course, he could not let that guy Kaido take advantage for nothing. Doflamingo also wanted a slice of the cake that was Wano.

Wano was a closed-off country, isolated from the world, with no coastline facing the open sea. Around it there were only cliffs and waterfalls.

Doflamingo arrived in the skies above Wano and looked down to see that within Wano there was an inland sea, and in that sea sat Wano's main island.

The main island was divided into six regions: Kuri, Kibi, Udon, Ringo, Hakumai, and the Flower Capital.

As for Onigashima, which would later be within Wano, right now it was not yet inside Wano's borders.

Doflamingo guessed that Onigashima was something Kaido had moved into Wano after occupying the country, directly hauling his base into Wano.

This was not wild speculation. Doflamingo believed that with Kaido's personality and his Azure Dragon form, he absolutely could do something like that, and do it easily.

Not wanting to startle the snake by beating the grass, Doflamingo chose Ringo and quietly went there to change into the traditional samurai kimono of the second island.

To make himself look more like a resident of Wano, Doflamingo put away his golden revolver and hung a sword on each side of his waist.

Sure enough, once he added a wig done up in a topknot, the samurai style came out instantly. With Doflamingo's innate air of looking down on everything, he resembled some ancient noble from Wano.

In Ringo, near the outer edge of the Return Harbor area, Doflamingo clearly felt that the people of Wano were not very friendly, even a bit xenophobic.

Even though he was wearing Wano clothing, his unfamiliar face made the people of the harbor full of wariness.

Doflamingo could clearly sense that some people had quietly left their original posts and were heading deeper inward.

After strolling around the harbor for a while, Doflamingo had to admit he did not like the atmosphere here, so he planned to leave and go see other places.

However, before he had gone far, he heard an urgent cry for help.

"Don't, don't come any closer. I come from Wano of eight hundred years ago, and I bear a mission. You cannot behave so rudely."

A woman with light green, loose hair was speaking righteously to a few ronin.

"Heh, eight hundred years ago? That flavor should be something special. Brothers, we've never tasted a woman from eight hundred years ago! Whoever gets her first, the lotus seeds are off-limits."

The samurai with the obvious sword scar on his neck and the typical Wano topknot drew his katana, not treating the woman in front of him as a person at all.

"Then we won't be polite!" the others shouted in unison.

Ignoring whatever reaction the light green-haired woman might have, they drew their swords and completely blocked off her escape routes.

The light green-haired woman did not show fear. She drew the sword at her own waist and faced them.

However, no matter how strong a woman was, she was still no match for a group of men.

Very quickly, the light green-haired woman had her sword knocked away. A blade was pressed horizontally against her neck.

"Am I going to have to travel through time again?

According to the guidance, this time I was supposed to meet the one I'm looking for. Why is it like this? How unwilling…

Since the guidance of time has brought me here, there must be some reason. I'll just travel one year further ahead!"

The light green-haired woman's eyes were full of unwillingness. Her weapon had been knocked away, her body restrained. She had only this last life-saving method left.

Yet before she could activate her ability, several bolts of black lightning crashed down with pinpoint accuracy onto the ronin.

The men did not even manage a dying scream before their lives were snuffed out.

Toki, the light green-haired woman, stared in shock at the scene before her. Only when Doflamingo appeared did she move.

She suddenly threw herself into Doflamingo's arms and said excitedly:

"It's you, isn't it? You're the one I've been searching for!"

Doflamingo was full of question marks. Did he know this woman? Even if he was handsome, there was no need to offer herself up just because he saved her life, right?

Fortunately, Toki was not a woman without reason. After her excitement settled, she let go of Doflamingo and then explained:

"I am Toki of the Amatsuki family, from Wano eight hundred years ago. I came here to seek the power of liberation. The aura on you is very similar to the power of that great one.

You have appeared again in Wano as guided by the prophecy. You must be the one I've been searching for."

"Good grief, Toki? That woman with the superhuman-type Toki Toki no Mi (Time-Time Fruit)?" Doflamingo was secretly astonished, and then he carefully examined Toki.

She had light green hair, with a lock of hair hanging on each side of her face, and a red-and-yellow hair ornament on the right.

She wore a pink kimono patterned with several crescent moons. Her legs were long and well-proportioned, in short yellow boots, her face impossibly cute. She was exactly the same as the Toki in his memories.

"A treasure. An extremely rare treasure. Even though I don't know why Toki has mistaken me for someone else, I absolutely have to keep her by my side."

Doflamingo was elated inside. It wasn't because of how beautiful Toki was, but because of her ability.

A time-based Devil Fruit… what a broken ability. Used well, it could change the world; at the very least, it was top-tier for running away.

Not to mention, if paired with certain abilities, in some respects it was practically invincible.

So Doflamingo began to think about how to respond to Toki.

According to the original timeline, Toki should not have appeared here. Originally, she used her power to jump past this crisis again.

It was only after that next time-jump that she met Oden, and then was conquered by Oden and became his wife.

Doflamingo felt it strange. Toki had clearly come to Wano with a specific purpose.

Why did she choose to marry Oden, the one who saved her in the original story? It did not quite add up.

There had to be more to it.
