Behind it, quieter than any of the others, he felt something harder to name entirely, not a single sensation but a shifting, adaptable pressure that seemed to respond to everything else happening around it rather than announcing itself the way the others had, something built to bend and change shape depending on what the moment demanded of it.
Six sensations, layered on top of each other, roaring through a body that was somehow, impossibly, still holding together.
"Gideon," Barry managed to gasp, though he had no idea if the word made it out as anything more than a sound.
"I'm reading you," Gideon said, his voice steady through the earpiece even as static crackled violently around it. "Six primary force signatures detected and integrating. Physiology and intellect enhancement stabilizing fastest. "
"Sage, Still, and adaptive signatures holding. Strength signature climbing rapidly." A pause, brief and precise. "Barry, the Speed Force connection you designed for has not activated."
The words cut through the noise with a clarity nothing else had managed.
"What," Barry ground out.
"Every other channel is drawing power correctly," Gideon said. "The Speed Force signature remains dormant. Current models cannot explain the discrepancy."
Barry forced his eyes open, and through the blinding wash of light still pouring through the Chamber's shielding, he saw it. Directly above him, the aperture he'd built into the Chamber's ceiling months ago, a narrow, deliberate opening exposed straight to the sky outside, dark clouds visible through the gap, roiling and low.
The same storm Wells had chosen for entirely different reasons.
'He wanted it for the planes,' Barry was thought, the realization arriving through the chaos with startling clarity. 'I need it for something else.'
He'd built that opening on a theory he'd never been able to fully test in advance, a piece of the old story he remembered from another life, the detail canon had always treated as almost incidental. Not just an explosion. A storm. A lightning strike, arriving at exactly the right second, completing a circuit the accelerator's energy alone had never been enough to close on its own.
"The storm," Barry said, forcing the words out through gritted teeth. "Gideon, is there lightning in that system?"
"Confirmed," Gideon said. "Localized electrical activity increasing rapidly overhead."
Barry stared up through the aperture, every other force already roaring through his body, waiting on the one piece that had always mattered more than any of the others, the one he could build a Chamber around but never actually manufacture himself.
The sky above the opening flashed white.
CRACK!
The bolt came down in a single, blinding line, punching straight through the aperture and into the Chamber below, and Barry felt it hit him like nothing that had come before it, not a wave this time but a detonation, every cell in his body lighting up at once as something vast and electric and alive finally, finally connected.
The world became pure white light.
For one impossible instant, Barry felt everything at once, the intellect, the instinct, the strength, the stillness, the flickering shape still trying to root itself, the shifting, adaptable pressure underneath all of it, and now, roaring through the center of it all, something faster and larger than anything he'd ever imagined building toward, a current that didn't just run through him but seemed to run through everything, threading every other force together into a single, unified whole.
He heard Gideon's voice one last time, distant and fragmented through the overwhelming noise.
"Full integration detected across all channels. Barry, your vitals are..."
The rest never reached him.
The light swallowed everything, and Barry Allen fell into darkness.
