Evander stepped forward, laughing awkwardly. "Haha, it's been a while, hasn't it?"
It definitely hadn't been a while since their last reunion - only a few weeks. He didn't quite know whether to act familiar or not. The two weren't exactly close, after all, and neither had forgotten how Evander had tried to intimidate Elion and use him when they first met.
First impressions mattered greatly. It would be a miracle if Elion didn't try to pay him back for that incident. Evander also had no idea how things would unfold between Elion and Xavier, which only added to his awkwardness.
He held out his hand, but Elion merely glanced at it without taking it.
Evander was beginning to think he would be ignored entirely. He could only smile wryly, his brow twitching in embarrassment, but after what felt like far longer than necessary, Elion finally accepted the handshake.
His grip was strong, and it kept tightening.
