Chapter 241: Outdated
Bidding farewell to Hiruzen and Danzo, Masahiko pondered for a moment and decided to go to the Land of Rain battlefield to take a look.
Masahiko had a full four disciples there. Two were too old, and two were too young, which really made Masahiko unable to rest easy.
"I can practice my spatial ability along the way."
As for the Mist Village, since the matter of Akatsuki controlling the Third Mizukage was exposed, and their goal of igniting the Third Great Ninja War had already been achieved, Masahiko felt it was unlikely they would stay there waiting for him to find them.
Even if they really stayed there and Masahiko found them, the current situation would be quite awkward. If he unleashed a Dust Release, he would probably vaporize the fat cat... Although the fat cat was stupid, he had developed some affection for it.
"I'll wait. When the Fourth Mizukage of the Mist Village takes office, maybe they will make another move. By then, my Space Ninjutsu will be proficient, and I'll go. For now, I'd better go see my disciples first."
But before that, Masahiko first made a trip to the Senju clan grounds and found Kushina.
"How is your control over the Nine-Tails?"
"Great-Great-Grandpa, you finally came!" Kushina greeted him first, then nodded. "I've pretty much got it under control. I just don't know if Fox-kun will resist after it revives."
"It's fine. If that happens, just find me, and Great-Great-Grandpa will give it a warning. I showed great mercy by giving it the Uzumaki surname; it won't do if it doesn't know how to be grateful."
"Great-Great-Grandpa, you're saying that again."
Masahiko smiled. "I came looking for you this time to give you a mission. Minato went to the battlefield. It must be quite boring staying in Konoha by yourself, right?"
Kushina was taken aback. "What mission?"
Masahiko bit his finger and used the Summoning Jutsu to summon Katsuyu-kun.
"Take Katsuyu-kun and return to the Land of Whirlpools. If anyone dares to target the Land of Whirlpools, notify me immediately."
The current Land of Whirlpools could be said to be unprecedentedly weak, with only Yoriko as a top-tier combatant. If the Cloud Village or Mist Village went crazy, or even if Akatsuki went crazy, it would make Masahiko very uncomfortable.
With Kushina having officially stepped into the ranks of S-class ninjas after becoming a Jinchuriki, Masahiko could feel a bit more at ease with her returning.
"I understand, but what about Lord Hokage..." Kushina hesitated.
"It's fine, don't worry about him." The current Konoha didn't need the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki to go to war yet.
"Just come back when Nanako and Kento return to the clan."
This time Kushina nodded directly and began to pack her bags.
"Then it's time for me to set off too." Masahiko muttered. His figure vanished from the Senju clan grounds and entered the space once again.
The fat cat was still sleeping. Masahiko ignored it and frowned.
"Which node was the one near the Land of Rain again?"
After Masahiko's tallying (counting for a long time), he finally figured out that there were 256 nodes in total. This number was a bit subtle, yet seemed to hold no specific meaning. Masahiko didn't know much about Bagua, nor was he a gossipy person.
Although he didn't want to admit it, Masahiko really couldn't remember them all; he could only remember a rough outline.
"It should be this one, right?"
In the next instant, Masahiko saw a boundless ocean around him, and his old face flushed red.
"Damn it, I'd better just go there."
The location the large tree in the space pointed to was a mountain forest in the northwest of the Land of Fire. Although it wasn't the closest node to the Land of Rain, it wasn't too far either.
Masahiko's figure flickered again, and he appeared there. Afterwards, to practice his Space Ninjutsu, Masahiko chose not to fly clumsily. Instead, he used the spatial "Flash" technique. One flash covered a distance of about fifty meters. Using it felt like shrinking the earth to an inch, giving off a very immortal aura...
Unfortunately, there were no villages or towns along the way. Masahiko had wanted to see if anyone would mistake him for an immortal deity.
"The space gave me the ability to Flash, and also enhanced my medical ninjutsu. Equipped with these two skills, I'm basically set up as an ADC..." Masahiko was just this bored while traveling.
The speed of Flashing was about the same as flying. A distance of about fifty kilometers took him around ten minutes. However, the chakra consumption was vastly greater. About a thousand flashes used up nearly a quarter of his chakra.
"This really isn't a jutsu meant for traveling." Masahiko shook his head and sensed the chakra fluctuations in the distance.
His current location was at the border between the Land of Rain and the Land of Fire, and the Konoha troops' camp was not far away.
There were quite a few scout ninjas nearby, but with Masahiko hidden within the spatial dimension, it was impossible for anyone to detect him.
There weren't many people in the camp. It seemed only some medical ninjas and logistics ninjas were left behind. The only familiar chakra was Tsunade's... there were two or three other somewhat familiar ones, but he couldn't recall who they were at the moment.
Masahiko didn't plan to show himself for the time being. Instead, he hid in the spatial dimension and slowly "squirmed" forward.
Without using Flash, moving directly within the spatial dimension was not very smooth for him. Although it wasn't quite as exaggerated as squirming, it wasn't much faster either.
It took him over ten minutes to cover a distance of less than two thousand meters, finally arriving at the largest tent in the camp.
Tsunade was inside the tent, along with many medical ninjas busily working. To Masahiko's surprise, the largest tent was not the main command tent, but the medical tent.
Masahiko saw nearly a hundred wounded soldiers. A scattered few had puncture wounds, while the vast majority only had scrapes. Yet, because of the Sand Village's poison, they had to lie there with agonized expressions.
Numerous medical ninjas were sustaining these people's lives, and Tsunade was also tinkering with a few "beakers," presumably formulating an antidote.
"Quite a lot of casualties." Masahiko frowned. From the number of injured, he could roughly tell that Konoha's losses were not small.
Originally not wanting to reveal himself, he felt a bit hesitant. Although it wasn't convenient to fight, he could still use medical ninjutsu.
Sakumo's chakra fluctuation suddenly appeared not far away, prompting Masahiko to hold off on revealing himself for now.
Leaving the tent, Masahiko "squirmed" to another relatively smaller tent.
Inside, besides Sakumo, there was another somewhat familiar chakra: Shikaku Nara.
Unexpected, yet reasonable.
Konoha had many S-class ninjas here, from the strongest like Kagami and Sakumo, to the Sannin, and down to the slightly weaker ones like Nawaki. However, the supreme commander of the battlefield was Shikaku Nara, who was only just past twenty and had been a Jonin for only a few years.
Sakumo had just completed an assassination mission and had come to submit his report to Shikaku and accept his next assignment.
Masahiko shifted behind Shikaku and looked at the documents on his desk.
Battlefield missions were divided into reconnaissance, assassination, execution, encirclement, rescue, and a series of others. They were further categorized meticulously into urgent and non-urgent. When there was no qualitative gap in strength between the two warring sides, battlefield strategy became the primary factor influencing victory.
Masahiko watched for a long while and had to admit that times were indeed progressing. He remembered that even during the Warring States period, when wars were frequent, it was merely reconnaissance, assassinations, and "fight, fight, fight." There were conspiracies and calculations, but there really wasn't this level of meticulous division.
"If it weren't for my overwhelming strength, an old guy like me would really be outdated."
