Chapter 14 - Improvements

"Striking combinations. Advanced level."

The virtual instructor appeared. Began demonstrating a six-strike combination. Jab, cross, lead hook, rear uppercut, lead uppercut, rear straight. Each punch flowing into the next. The whole sequence taking maybe two seconds.

"Observe timing and weight transfer patterns."

James watched as the AI highlighted key aspects of the combination. The weight shifted constantly. Hips rotated. Shoulders turned. Feet pivoted. Everything connected in a chain of movement.

"Attempt replication."

James moved through the combination in physical space. The motion capture suit tracked every joint, every shift.

Feedback came instantly, more detailed than before.

"Initial jab: elbow angle thirty-two degrees at extension, optimal is thirty degrees. Adjustment: minor, within acceptable range."

"Cross: hip rotation one hundred fifteen degrees, optimal is one hundred twenty. Weight transfer seventy-five percent, optimal is eighty. Correction suggested: initiate hip rotation five milliseconds earlier."

"Lead hook: trajectory deviation four degrees from optimal path. Correction: increase shoulder rotation by six degrees during execution."

The level of detail was far beyond version 1.0. The AI was tracking aspects of movement James hadn't even known existed.

He repeated the combination. The feedback refined. Twenty repetitions. Fifty. One hundred.

By repetition one hundred, the combination felt natural. His body knew how to move.

The weight transfers happened automatically. The punches flowed together like water.

James removed the headset and went to his heavy bag. Threw the combination at full speed and power.

Thud-thud-thud-thud-thud-thud!

Six impacts in rapid succession. The bag swung hard from the force.

He'd just learned an advanced striking combination in ninety minutes.

Something that would normally take weeks or months of training.

James checked the system metrics. Learning rate with version 2.0:

approximately seven times faster than traditional training methods.

Seven times faster.

That changed everything.

At this rate, he could learn skills in weeks that normally took half a year. Could master fundamentals in months that normally took years. Could compress Batman's twelve-year training journey into maybe twenty months.

Still longer than his eighteen-month deadline, but close enough. He could adjust. Train harder. Longer hours. Push the limits.

James spent the rest of the day testing version 2.0 with different skills.

Ground fighting. Weapons training with practice knives. Evasive movement. Each skill showing similar acceleration rates.

The system worked even better than he'd hoped.

By evening, he was exhausted but satisfied. His body ached from hours of intensive practice. His mind buzzed from the tDCS stimulation. But he'd made real progress.

Version 2.0 was ready. Time to begin the serious training.

---

Over the next month, James established a brutal routine.

Wake at four AM. Cardio and strength training until six. Breakfast and recovery until seven. Neural Interface training from seven to noon. Five hours of immersive VR practice learning techniques and drilling combinations.

Lunch break until one.

Physical practice without the Neural Interface from one to four. Testing what he'd learned, making it work against resistance. Dinner and rest until six. Evening research session from six to nine, studying combat theory, tactics, human anatomy, physics of striking. Sleep from nine to four.

Nineteen hours dedicated to training and improvement. Five hours of sleep. His enhanced intellect needed less rest than normal people, which helped, but the schedule was still punishing.

The progress was extraordinary.

In week one, he mastered the fundamentals of five martial arts. Judo, Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Not expert-level mastery, but solid understanding of each art's core principles and primary techniques.

In week two, he started synthesizing. The AI helped him identify which techniques from each art complemented each other. Created combinations that mixed styles seamlessly.

A Judo grip flowing into a Boxing combination flowing into a Wrestling takedown flowing into a Jiu-Jitsu submission.
