Tessa brought me up to the second floor, while Richard was led by Alpha Tristan Grey to the banquet hall.
I followed Tessa through a corridor layered with silver-gray marble. Grey Pack had always felt like winter preserved inside a building, elegant, calm, slightly cold.
We entered a smaller private room. The walls were lined with bookshelves, and one large window faced the backyard garden, washed in pale daylight.
Tessa closed the door.
"So," she said without small talk, leaning against a dark wooden table, "your relationship with Richard… has it resumed?"
I lifted my shoulders. Half a shrug. Half an answer. "Don't imagine wild things."
Tessa stared at me for a long moment. She was always like this. Never afraid to look straight into my mind.
"Instead of managing my relationship, why don't you just accept Kellan?" I said, changing the topic.
She clicked her tongue. "Kellan is just a childhood friend. That's all."
"You know he doesn't see it that way."
