Chapter 798 - Side Story — Snape 7

Side Story — Snape 7

The day the exams ended, Snape noticed that Harry Potter was walking strangely.

He also overheard the boy telling McGonagall that he was going to steal the Philosopher's Stone.

Ridiculous.

Absolutely ridiculous!

What did he want the Philosopher's Stone for?

But this also reminded Snape that Quirrell would probably try to steal the Philosopher's Stone.

So he thought about it for a while in his office and decided to go to Dumbledore.

This was a drama arranged by Dumbledore.

Dumbledore should know what he was doing.

So Snape left his office and went to the Ministry of Magic in London.

At the Ministry of Magic, he found Dumbledore leisurely chatting with people, without the slightest trace of anxiety.

Snape smiled sarcastically.

So this was the savior-training plan?

Dumbledore was here chatting with people while the savior was running around the school in a panic?

Because Snape had arrived, Dumbledore stopped chatting and decided to leave with him.

However, Dumbledore wasn't in a hurry at all.

On the way, he even stopped to visit old friends, dragging things out until late at night.

When they finally walked into Hogwarts, they saw Miss Granger, the little know-it-all, hurrying toward them.

"Headmaster… It's not good! Professor Snape stole the Philosopher's Stone…"

Miss Granger's expression became wonderful the moment she saw him.

"Ah, it seems Miss Granger really likes falsely accusing professors. Gryffindor loses twenty points!"

Snape laughed wickedly.

"So, Miss Granger, tell me. Is there something going on?"

He asked gleefully.

Look at that.

He had been falsely accused by this girl for an entire year, and now she had discovered that he hadn't done it.

That expression was truly satisfying.

"...It's like this, Headmaster… Professor Snape, together we solved all the traps."

"Harry has now gone into the innermost chamber. Darren is waiting outside, and I came here first as soon as I could run back… The person inside is the mysterious…"

"Then why didn't you hurry up and say that just now?"

Snape shouted impatiently.

His black robes swept behind him as he hurried toward the fourth floor.

These reckless cubs!

And Harry Potter—

How dare he face that person alone?

Was he trying to get himself killed?

He had already ruined Lily's life once!

He really was a Potter through and through!

"Oh, Severus, you're too slow. Follow me…"

Dumbledore stopped Snape, summoned Fawkes, and together they hurried toward the chamber beneath the corridor on the fourth floor.

The moment Snape entered, he almost collapsed.

He stumbled backward.

Two children…

Both of them were lying there pale and motionless.

Were they both dead?

"Severus… It's all right. Listen to me. They're fine…"

Dumbledore comforted him.

He then sent the two children to the hospital wing, and Snape immediately followed.

He heard Madam Pomfrey say,

"Cruciatus Curse? Good heavens, does this child want to die?"

The Cruciatus Curse?

How?

Who was it?

Who had been hit by the Cruciatus Curse?

"Severus, it was Darren…"

Dumbledore looked at him with a pained expression.

Snape suddenly felt like a clown.

"Idiot!"

"He's an idiot!"

Snape roared.

Dumbledore's face was equally pale.

Still, he forced himself to calm down.

"All right, Severus. I noticed that Darren had been given several potions. It seems we'll have to follow the timeline."

"The timeline?"

So it was a Time-Turner.

Snape hadn't expected the Headmaster to use such a trick.

No wonder Dumbledore hadn't been in a hurry all afternoon.

"Two hours back. Yes, that's it!"

Time turned back to midnight.

Snape immediately tried to grab Darren and stop him from going there, but Dumbledore stopped him.

"Severus, we can't change the ending. It has already happened. No one can tamper with time."

Snape looked at Dumbledore's serious expression and silently covered his face.

He knew.

After Lily's death, he had wanted to use this method as well.

But after trying several times, he had understood that history couldn't be changed.

Everything you did would simply become part of history.

No one could outsmart time.

It was the same reason he had never been able to develop a Polyjuice Potion that could maintain someone's appearance indefinitely.

He had also been unable to persuade Lily to leave.

And because of the Fidelius Charm, he hadn't even been able to find Lily.

It was a truly cruel fact.

Because Dumbledore insisted, they entered the chamber where the Philosopher's Stone was hidden ahead of time.

There was clearly no one there yet.

There was only one thing in the room.

The Mirror of Erised.

"You're not seriously planning to ask the Dark Lord to find a mirror, are you?"

Snape said sarcastically.

Dumbledore smiled.

He stroked his beard and said, "The Philosopher's Stone is inside the mirror. Only someone who wants to obtain it but has no intention of using it can take it."

Snape stood in front of the mirror.

He looked at his reflection.

Then he suddenly smiled.

He reached into his pocket, took out a stone, and put it into his pocket.

A Philosopher's Stone actually appeared in his pocket.

"Boring trick."

Snape tossed the Philosopher's Stone to Dumbledore.

"Although it looks boring, for Tom, this is the difference between heaven and earth. He can break this magic mirror, but he still won't be able to obtain the Philosopher's Stone."

Dumbledore smiled and put the Philosopher's Stone back inside the mirror.

Then he stopped speaking.

Snape didn't know what else to say.

He simply stood silently to the side, waiting for Harry and…

Darren to arrive.

But Quirrell arrived first.

Without saying a word, he cautiously tried various spells around the mirror.

Snape and Dumbledore remained silent as well.

They knew the other was there, but neither had any desire to speak.

But Snape knew that Harry and Darren would be arriving soon.

And sure enough—

A black-haired, green-eyed figure recklessly rushed into the room.

"It's you!"

The moment Harry Potter entered, Snape almost laughed.

This fellow really did insist on believing that Snape had stolen the Philosopher's Stone.

Then Snape looked at Quirrell.

This fellow's explanation to Harry Potter was even more amusing.

The two lifelong enemies were putting on quite a performance.

Until—

Sizzle.

It sounded like water being poured onto a fire.

Then Snape saw Darren.

Eh?

Darren's Invisibility Cloak had failed…
