Chapter 795 - Side Story — Snape 4

Side Story — Snape 4

Flying lessons were also a fun course for first-year students.

But Snape didn't like them at all.

Because he hated flying.

And because his love rival, James, had been the darling of the skies.

So whenever Snape looked at the sport, he couldn't help thinking of that man.

Every time he thought about it, his mood became extremely unpleasant.

That bastard had stolen Lily away and hadn't even taken good care of her. He was nothing but a jerk.

Fortunately, Snape had eventually become the Head of Slytherin.

Watching Slytherin beat Gryffindor into the ground every time, he actually began to like the sport a little.

Especially when he saw those Gryffindor cubs gritting their teeth in frustration. It brought him a small amount of comfort every time.

Sure enough, watching Gryffindor suffer was one of his greatest sources of happiness.

But all that happiness turned into unhappiness after he saw Darren Potter follow those people out to practice with a broom.

Hmph!

What about Lily?

Hadn't he inherited any of her blood at all?

The Potters were born to be darlings of flight, and Darren should be no exception.

Sure enough, when Snape stood above the castle and happened to see Darren grab the broom—

And Harry Potter as well.

The two of them really were born to fly.

Snape almost snorted angrily.

His heart felt sour to the extreme.

Was James Potter really that good?

Wasn't he just an idiot who happened to be good at flying?

Why had Lily fallen for him?

Snape couldn't understand it.

He felt that Lily had been separated from him because of Potter, and he really shouldn't have allowed himself to think about that arrogant Potter.

Sometimes he even wondered whether Potter had slipped Lily some kind of stupidity potion.

He was thinking about this when he suddenly saw Neville Longbottom flying on a broomstick.

Then Darren flew after him.

Almost subconsciously, Snape drew his wand.

It wasn't until he saw Darren fall to the ground that he put his wand away.

Look at that!

The Darren cub had been infected with Potter's reckless genes!

Snape smiled sarcastically.

He also saw Harry Potter show off some of his flying skills.

Hmph!

Arrogant Potter!

Snape cursed under his breath and left the heights of the castle.

He felt that he really shouldn't waste his time watching such a boring flying lesson!

He angrily returned to the Great Hall.

Then he heard the news that Harry Potter was going to duel Draco.

Ha!

Harry Potter's ability?

He could beat Draco?

Wasn't he simply asking to be beaten?

Snape was just about to listen to Harry Potter's confident speech and enjoy himself a little when he heard Harry complaining about him to the little cub.

Harry was angry because he gad made Darren copy the house rules.

Oh.

If it weren't for that little cub, Harry Potter would have been the one punished!

Snape immediately stepped forward and began mocking him.

Looking at the frantic expression on Potter's face, Snape's mood improved considerably.

He even saw Potter trying to hit him.

Ha!

Gryffindor would have fifty points deducted for attacking a professor!

However, before Snape could do anything, he was pulled away by the cub tugging on his sleeve.

Along the way, he saw the shocked expressions of countless professors and students.

Snape remained calm on the surface, but in reality, his hand had already found his wand.

He decided he was going to teach this reckless little brat a proper lesson.

Who had given him the courage to grab a Head of House and drag him away without the slightest concern for appearances?

Perhaps Snape's glare finally frightened the little cub, because the cub eventually released his claws.

Snape felt a little pleased.

At least this Potter cub still knew how to read the room.

With that kind of sense, he probably wouldn't starve to death after leaving school.

He imagined Harry Potter, who couldn't read the slightest expression on someone's face, carrying a sack and begging for food on the street.

The beautiful image almost made him laugh.

"Professor McGonagall has arranged your detention…"

He looked at the cub and said this.

Because of that, he also saw the guilty expression in those green eyes.

He turned around and left.

He avoided those eyes.

It almost looked as though he were running away…

Damn it!

He had been tricked by Quirrell.

That man had lured him into the Forbidden Forest. Snape had searched everywhere, found nothing, and returned to the dungeons while cursing under his breath.

He swore that if he ever found Quirrell—

Otherwise…

He suddenly froze.

Because he saw Quirrell standing outside his office, talking and laughing with Darren.

That little fool was completely defenseless.

It was as though he hadn't even noticed the wand in Quirrell's hand.

"What are you doing here!"

Snape shouted sharply.

He raised his wand.

Could it be that Quirrell intended to deal with this little cub first?

Harry Potter's younger brother.

Damn it!

Perhaps because he saw Snape appear, Quirrell immediately left.

Snape irritably pulled the cub into his office.

If he had arrived any later today, would the cub have died?

Or worse…

Could he have ended up like the Longbottoms?

"Detention?"

Snape suddenly remembered that he had indeed told the little cub to come for detention.

He felt slightly annoyed.

He should have stayed here and waited.

Who knew that Quirrell would lead him away when he wasn't paying attention?

Fine.

The cub was still alive.

The detention went pleasantly enough.

The cub had only just begun copying the house rules.

Snape knew that this little cub had simply forgotten about his punishment.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have been foolish enough to follow Harry Potter to Gryffindor for dinner.

Of course, even if he had copied the rules, he probably would still have gone.

Stupid.

What could he do with such a stupid little cub?

"Hurry up and eat. Finish your food… then go to sleep!"

"All you know how to do is follow Harry Potter around. Even your food doesn't taste good anymore. No wonder you're malnourished!"

Snape thought this as he marked the students' homework.

He watched the cub leave.

Thinking about what Harry Potter had said today about dueling Malfoy, Snape guessed that the cub would definitely want to find Harry.

Worried that he might run into Quirrell along the way, Snape made the discreet decision to follow them.

Who knew that Harry Potter and the others would be discovered?

Ha!

Draco hadn't even shown up for the appointment.

He had simply reported them to Filch?

Why hadn't Snape thought of such a good method?

As expected of Malfoy.

Snape was just about to appear and deduct points from Gryffindor when Dumbledore stopped him.

"Albus, are you giving Potter another privilege?"

Snape asked angrily.

Hogwarts wasn't exactly safe anymore.

Why was Dumbledore allowing Potter to wander around outside so casually?

Just because he was Harry Potter?

"It's part of the plan…"

Dumbledore shook his head.

Snape saw Harry and the others enter the room on the fourth floor.

Ah.

Before the start of term, he had wondered why Dumbledore had bothered setting up all those childish obstacles.

So it had been to lure Potter there!

"Quirrell is also after that thing, Dumbledore. Do you want Harry Potter to meet Quirrell?"

"I don't want Lily's child to die like this!"

"No, no, no, Severus… I'll be there watching."

Dumbledore shook his head, reassuring him.

Snape fell silent.

If that was the case, then perhaps Potter really would be safe.

"Hmph. Harry Potter's privilege!"
