Chapter 600 Where did the letter come from?!!

Monday morning.

Darren was having breakfast in the Great Hall.

The matter between him and Snape was still being discussed by many people.

But after hearing him say that he had forgotten everything, everyone showed sympathetic expressions toward him.

Many people believed that it was Snape who had broken into his dormitory and cast a complete Obliviate on him, in order to prevent Darren from speaking ill of him.

Because Darren and Snape had fought, no one except Umbridge thought it was Darren's fault.

As for Snape's hypocrisy—claiming that Darren may have been used by someone else to take revenge on him—that was clearly a way for Snape to shirk responsibility.

Especially after Darren later said that he had forgotten everything, this idea became even more widespread.

However, Darren's words did not fool Harry and Hermione. His lie in front of them was not successful.

How could they believe that stumbling expression when he said he had forgotten everything?

They understood that Darren simply didn't want to tell them.

But precisely because Darren didn't want to tell them, they became even more worried. At the same time, Darren began persuading Harry not to go to Snape to learn Occlumency again.

Harry really wanted to listen to Darren, but he also understood that this was Dumbledore's request, and he couldn't refuse.

Even if Snape had problems, this was Hogwarts. Harry believed Snape wouldn't dare do anything excessive.

Harry's insistence left Darren speechless, but he looked even more anxious.

It made Harry wonder what exactly had happened in Snape's office.

Of course, this was also the speculation of the entire Hogwarts student body.

However, neither Darren nor Snape had any intention of explaining what happened in the office. They only planned to let Harry know—and let Voldemort know.

And because both of them kept their mouths shut, Snape couldn't act recklessly at Hogwarts.

In the end, the matter was suppressed.

More importantly, there was even bigger news that morning.

A new issue of The Quibbler had finally been published.

While Darren was eating, he was almost completely surrounded by owls. Hundreds of them hovered above his head, carrying letters.

To prevent owl droppings from falling on him, Darren could only wave his wand, causing all the envelopes to fall and neatly stack beside him.

He casually opened one letter.

It said that the writer believed what Darren and Harry had said, and that the two of them must continue insisting on the truth.

He opened another letter curiously. This one was written by Lockhart's fans.

> "I know Lockhart ended up like this because he asked for it, and thank you for not revealing the truth over the past few years.

But I beg you—can you sue Laurie Lauter with me?

This woman dared to release the photo orb. I must let her know how powerful I am!"

Darren twitched the corner of his mouth.

Thankfully, he had already sent a warning letter to Miss Laurie Law, minimizing his own responsibility.

To satisfy this fan, Darren wrote a reply on parchment:

> "I have seen Professor Lockhart before. He is very magnanimous, and if he knew you intended to sue Miss Laurie Law, he would be sad.

Believe me, he is an upright gentleman who can still laugh loudly from his sickbed.

What he needs now is not disturbance, but for people to quickly forget about this matter."

As far as Darren knew, Miss Laurie Lauter had already resigned after being harassed by Lockhart's fans.

The healer currently caring for Lockhart was an extremely rigid and righteous man. He wasn't even willing to help Lockhart perform basic cleaning spells, nor did he want to enter Lockhart's ward. He simply let Lockhart fend for himself.

Perhaps when these brainless fans finished manipulating public opinion, Lockhart would coincidentally go and meet Merlin.

At the very least, he was being tortured.

"Darren!"

Hermione and the others came over.

Darren was handing the reply letter to an owl when he turned back and smiled gently at Hermione.

Hermione blushed slightly but still said happily, "The Quibbler has been published. You should take a look!"

She handed him the magazine.

Darren saw his and Harry's faces on the cover.

His handsome face and Harry's were placed side by side. Though they contrasted sharply, they shared the same expression—shy, well-behaved smiles that made them look like good children at first glance.

It completely concealed Darren's true nature.

Bright red words were printed across the cover:

The Potter Brothers Finally Tell the Truth: That Night, the Dark Lord Was Resurrected!

Luna came over.

She winked at Darren and casually sat down at the Slytherin table, propping her chin on her hands as she looked at him.

"Dad printed it yesterday. I wanted to give it to you then, but you were in the infirmary."

"I'm sorry, I—"

"Oh, Darren, I love your smile," Luna interrupted softly. "I think it looks wonderful."

Hermione beside them looked slightly displeased.

She seemed to want to refute something but couldn't, so she turned her attention to Darren's letters instead.

"Darren, do you mind if I open them?"

"If you don't mind, we can help you read them and see what people are saying."

Darren generously pushed all the letters toward them.

Hermione and the others stood around the Slytherin table, opening the letters one by one.

"This man says he believes what you said, but he still can't accept that the dark lord is back… honestly…"

She put it down and opened another.

"This woman says she believes Darren completely, and that if only Darren could spend time with her… What kind of people are these?!"

Hermione burned the letter.

Darren didn't even have time to see the contact information written on it.

"I have several letters supporting Darren too," Harry said awkwardly, "but they all say no to—"

Ron burst out laughing.

Perhaps the laughter caught Umbridge's attention—or perhaps she had finally decided not to restrain herself anymore.

Umbridge walked over from the teachers' table.

She stared at Darren and Harry with her swollen eyes and said in a sweet, greasy voice:

"Mr. Potter, why do you have so many letters?"

"And why wouldn't he?" Fred chuckled. "Is receiving mail illegal now?"

Umbridge shot him a glare.

"I believe I assigned Mr. Darren Potter detention yesterday," she said coldly.

"I hope your behavior doesn't worsen my impression of Mr. Darren Potter."
