Chapter 11 - The Locked Study [3]

The implications of this realization sent a shiver down his spine.

As he sat in the dimly lit study.

*Maybe there is more to this world then I realized!*

He placed his hand on his chin.

Drifting into his thoughts.

''Wait, I haven't real thought about this, how did I even get here?'

*Now that I think about it, it's all blank. I have no recollection of what happened, how id I get here?*

It was like a void, an emptiness.

Sure, he remembered his past life.

But not the journey that led him to this moment.

*Did I die? Was I summoned? Can I still go back? i need answers.*

''damn it!''

Frustrated, he picked up another book.

flipping through the pages quickly.

''Come on!''

He grabbed another one.

His impatient, growing as he flipped through the pages.

He stopped , in defeat ready to give up.

Until his gaze landed on a page that caught his interest.

He began reading:

'[Mana Manual]

Mana is everywhere; it's the vey source of life, but very few can harness it. those who can are known as Ascenders/Awakens. And it's divided into two categories. Light and Dark mana.'

He skimmed through the tedious details.

Until something intriguing grabbed his attention.

''How to use mana?''

He raised a brow.

'First, you must determine if you possess it, but to check you'll need the these specific materials items.'

He leaned in closer, to absorb every detail.

As he pondered the next steps in his quest.

The book had described a complex ritual:

1. First material:

*Chalk: For inscribing the magic circle on the ground.

*Seven candles: To represent the element forces, each becom of energies around the circle.

*Container: To contain the needed content needed for the ritual.

*A Potion: A special concoction to be poured into the goblet before the ritual begins.

2. Instructions:

1. Begin by using the chalk to carefully draw a magic circle on the ground. The circle must be large enough to accommodate the candles and the container in its centre. Ensure both the sigils bro both Dark and Light mana are inscribed within the circle.

2. Place the seven candles around the perimeter of the circle, space evenly apart. Each candle should represents the aspect of mana you seek to understand—safety, power, balance, chaos, wisdom, empathy and ambition.

3. Once the candles are secure light each one. As they flicker to life focus on their flames, allowing your essence to intertwine with your own.

4. Take the cup or any container, fill it in a awakening potion insuring it reaches the brim. This potion will serve as a catalyst for the ritual, amplifying the magical energies at play.

5. Let three drops of your blood fall into it. This drop is crucial; it is both a sacrifice and key to unlocking your potential.

3. Final steps:

*As the blood mixes with the potion and the energy of the candles, focus on the sensations that arise within you. You may feel warmth or chill, clerity or confusion. Each sensation is a signpost, guiding you toward the type of mana wich you are attuned with.

He could almost visualise the ritual, taking place.

Yet he wanted to try out the ritual.

With determination, he sat those essential in mind.

*Does this ritual work, if it does than there's only one way to find out, I have to prepare the materials.*

He scanned through the study, searching for necessary materials.

He's eyes landed on a small wooden box containing three pieces of white chalk near a study box.

"First material check!"

He added, wit a smile.

Walking around the study he spotted a chest tucked away in a corner.

He rushed, over flinging it open to find a collection of valuables he couldn't identify.

He narrowed, his eyes he made contact with a chalice.

He quickly grabbed the silver chalice.

*Wait, this is basically counts as a container.*

"Second item check!"

As he wento back to the desk.

He rummaged through the drawer.

Only to find several hidden candles.

"Check!"

*Now all that's left is to find the Ascender potion.*

As he thought about it.

The bottles he had seen earlier came into mind.

He quitely lifted the chair he'd been sitting on, bringing it closer to the chair.

Standing on the chair, he searched the shelves for three glass vials.

Finally finding them, he uttered.

"Final item check, that is all I need."

He found a safe space to the ritual.

He carefully drew the magic circle, replicating the design from the book.

-Screech!

-Screech!

"Done!"

He placed the candle around the circle.

Positioning the sliver chalice in the centre.

Using the candle he had used to light the room,

He ignited ech one.

Relieved, he gently poured the potion into the Chalis.

Careful not to spill the drop.

He quickly emptied out the three vials.

Then came the final step—his blood.

He hesitated but he knew it was for a bigger cause.

Gritting his teeth, he bit the tip of his index finger.

Allowing red droplets to fall into the goblet.

He counted out loud:

"One… two… three…"

Quickly, he withdrew his finger from his mouth.

He waited, hoping for the glow, but nothing happened.

*Why is nothing happening!*

He had followed the steps correctly not missing a step.

Despair crept in as he wandered why wasn't working.

"Maybe I'm not one of those people who can use mana."

His hope began to fade.

He felt his hope rise only to crash down in disappointment.

*I guess nothing's changed!*

Frustration plused through.

"Mabye I was meant to be powerless in this world."

A mere absorber on rather than a participant.

"I better get back to bed before Lalia wakes up."

He quickly seat about cleaning the room.

The last thing he wanted was to raise suspicion.

He decided to take both the Manual and the book.

Just in case.

Garbing the candle as well.

Carefully he locked the door using the hairpin.

He picked up the candl, slipping back to his room.

Placing the candle back on the stand.

Once he settled in bed.

Letting out a sigh of relief.

Luckily, Lalia was in fell in a deep sleep.

Her rhythmic breathing assuring him she hadn't noticed he was gone.

With that he closed his eyes.

Drifting off into his dreams.
