Chapter 35 - Lore behind Caissa

Klein soon began, his voice dropping low.

"Ince Zangwill is a sequence 5 Beyonder of the Corpse Collector Pathway before switching to the sequence 4 of the Sleepless Pathway. He advanced through Saint Selena's ashes which he acquired in Tingen.

"He carries a Grade 0 Sealed Artifact, 0-08 which has the ability to write 'scripts' that will manifest into reality. The more you know about this Sealed Artifact — the more it will involve you in its plot."

Klein finished, he hesitated for a moment before adding the information about his whereabouts that Casper revealed to him.

"Supposedly, he's in Backlund carrying another one of his nefarious plots."

Daly's eyes gleamed as she looked at him gratefully, "Thank you…" she said softly.

Her fingers tightened around the silver bracelet, the white crystal trembling faintly. For a brief moment, the sorrow in her eyes was eclipsed by something colder — hatred and vengeance.

"Ince Zangwill…" she repeated under her breath, "So here's here… in Backlund."

Klein nodded slightly. "0-008 causes coincidences that feel deliberate as a part of its plot. So look out for that," he warned her.

Anderson remained silent the entire time but his ears never failed him, upon hearing the gothic woman mention Backlund with such intensity he quickly realised a small fact.

Miss Knight resides in Backlund, he thought with glee.

His gaze then shifted to the fearless Mr. King, a trace of respect in his eyes, A sequence 8 Beyonder who knows of matters concerning Demigods… this gathering is filled with surprises.

A few moments passed in silence.

Seeing that the transactions ceased, Casper quietly commented. "If there's nothing else to share, let's end this gathering here.."

Suddenly Klein raised a question, "Mr. Emperor, is there a name for this gathering and when would this gathering be held normally?"

Good boy! Casper thought with delight.

A few days back, Casper had instructed Klein to ask some questions. He couldn't wait until one of the people here raised such a question since it would be too late.

Casper raised his head as if in thought. From the beginning, he had wanted his gathering to be the antithesis of the Tarot Club in certain matters.

Caissa, an ancient dryad who was the goddess of chess — a sport rooted in logic and reason — stood in direct opposition to the mystical aspects of Tarot Cards.

He also went as far as to have each member choose a chess piece.

Thus, his gathering too had to be held in direct opposition to Monday or else there'd be no point in this.

Since Monday is associated with labour and routine, I have to choose a day of rest and leisure.

"Saturday, 3 p.m," He stated calmly and after a moment, added, "As for the name, you can choose among yourselves."

Klein spoke quickly, delivering it just as rehearsed. "How about Caissa?"

Daly raised her eyebrows in surprise, "Ah. Isn't that from the poem Emperor Roselle wrote? The woman who attracted the gaze of a God that created a sport for her to win her heart?"

Casper inwardly groaned, resisting the urge to facepalm. How much has that guy plagiarised?

At that moment, Casper received a sudden headache and felt the connection between him and the Nation of Disorder falter.

I'm already out of Spirituality?! He thought sharply.

"Alright, that will be all for today's gathering," he said in a deep voice, deciding to end the gathering early.

"By your will." Anderson, Daly and Klein said simultaneously, bowing their heads respectfully.

As Klein severed the connection, he said with a smile, "Let us look forward to the next gathering."

In a second, the 'projection' shattered as the Nation of Disorder ejected him.

"Argh! Damn it, that fucking hurts!"

Casper clutched his head as a burning pain radiated through his skull.

Outside, Adem who heard his moan said with a loud chuckle. "If you're beating it, close the door. We're playing here!"

Immediately Casper felt the urge to beat the young boy to take his mind off the pain.

After a moment of agonizing pain, he picked himself off the ground and laid himself on the bed. "I should try my best to advance to Sequence 8 as quickly as possible." He muttered under his breath.

After stretching his body, Casper walked out of his room to see Adem and Sera play tag. They darted around the room, laughing and shrieking as they chased after each other.

Adem spotted him and skidded to a halt, a mischievous grin on his face. "Casper! You're just in time! Want to join?"

Casper's eyes narrowed, "Nope. You guys aren't playing either."

Adem's face dropped, a frown forming as he looked at Casper angrily. "Why not?!"

Meanwhile Casper walked past him and headed to the coat-rack, he grabbed his long black coat and placed it on.

"Because…. you guys are going to accompany me to check out new, bigger places to live in where we can play tag spaciously!"

He shouted in excitement.
