Chapter 195 - [196] : The Demon Hound

At the Eye of Wisdom's gathering, a man showed everyone a portrait of Lanevus, publicly seeking clues to his whereabouts.

Hmm? This guy...

Silas's gaze lingered on this man, detecting a slight abnormality within him.

He's from the Aurora Order, right?

From the looks of it, a Sequence 9 Secrets Suppliant.

He frowned slightly.

He hadn't noticed earlier because the other party was really weak, and mixed in among a pile of Beyonders, he'd overlooked him.

It's already been several weeks, and the Aurora Order still hasn't found Lanevus...

Silas thought.

Logically speaking, since Lanevus was gestating the True Creator's spawn, the Aurora Order should have an advantage in finding him.

Yet the result was they still hadn't found him to this day.

Could it be that after getting pregnant, that guy became special?

After the gathering ends, I'll capture this Aurora Order member and check his brain to see how the Aurora Order's tracking is going.

Silas quickly made up his mind. Looking into the crowd, Silas noticed Klein was also staring at the other party, his expression thoughtful.

Klein probably had the same idea as me...

He laughed inwardly.

"Black Snake, did this guy steal your wife? Why do you have to show this every gathering?"

Someone teased in a low voice.

"Cut the nonsense!"

"Black Snake" suppressed his voice.

"200 pounds, as long as you confirm it's him, I'll pay. You all pay more attention. Easy money-making opportunities like this aren't common!"

Easy?

Silas recalled the terrifying wound on Xio's shoulder and couldn't help but sneer beneath his mask.

The trading continued.

Klein also publicly requested Beyonder materials, something called "complete spinal fluid of an evil-patterned black panther," but obviously no one present had heard of it.

"Today's gathering ends here."

After a few more minutes, seeing no one else speaking, the Eye of Wisdom spoke up.

Silas had originally planned to track this Aurora Order member called "Black Snake," but unexpectedly, the Eye of Wisdom's gathering was very cautious, actually requiring everyone to leave at intervals, one after another.

This could effectively prevent tracking.

However, for a Sequence 5 Shepherd, this little matter wasn't any particular obstacle.

Seeing "Black Snake" about to leave, Silas manipulated his own shadow, extending it to leave a bit of his aura in "Black Snake's" shadow. This way, after going out, he could follow his own aura to find "Black Snake."

Silas left before Klein. He thought for a moment and hid in the shadows by the door. When Klein came out of the house, he appeared again.

"Klein."

He emerged abruptly in front of the other party as if squeezing out from the shadows, speaking in his natural voice. "It's me."

"Ah!"

Klein was startled by Silas's sudden appearance, but quickly, he saw the other party remove his mask to reveal his true appearance and recognized his identity.

"Silas? What are you doing here?"

"Same as you, attending a gathering."

Silas said.

"Let's skip the small talk. I just marked that Black Snake. Let's quickly catch up to him. Maybe we can get information about Lanevus from him."

The reason for calling Klein was that he could divine, and might be able to obtain more intelligence from Black Snake.

"Alright!"

Klein didn't hesitate either.

Following a Sequence 5 to chase a Sequence 9 small fry, no matter how you looked at it, there was no danger.

The two quickly ran.

Silas sensed the shadow's mark and found that Black Snake was just walking leisurely, only a street or two away from them. They could catch up quickly.

"Ahhhhh!"

But just as the two chased to a corner, they suddenly heard Black Snake let out a heart-rending, miserable scream.

What's going on?

Klein thought in surprise and unease.

"Boom!"

Silas immediately activated his grazed ability. A ball of crimson flame shot out rapidly.

The next instant, the fireball exploded, and his body had already appeared several meters away, seeing the situation deep in the alley around the corner.

He saw that Black Snake's limbs had been cut off, his organs and ribs dismantled and scattered across the street.

Under the cold night, this flesh and blood was steaming upward with hot vapor.

Deeper in the alley lay a young woman. She had died wearing a gaudy long dress, her abdomen already torn open, all the organs inside gone.

A huge black dog stood between them, mouth half-open, dark red rust-like traces growing between its snow-white sharp teeth.

The edges of its mouth were stained with scraps of flesh and organ remnants, looking extremely terrifying.

Noticing Silas's sudden appearance, this large black dog instinctively looked over. Its eyes glowed red, appearing fierce and terrifying.

"Grr!"

It let out a threatening growl.

"Hmm?"

Facing the other party's threat, Silas frowned slightly.

A Devil's ritual?

This black dog is a Devil?

It's the culprit of another serial murder case besides Lanevus?

It seems Black Snake just happened to stumble upon the murder scene and got killed... Unlucky guy.

It seems your devout prayers didn't make your Lord protect you.

For a moment, Silas even felt somewhat absurd. He hadn't obtained any clues about Lanevus, but instead, by coincidence, encountered the true culprit of another case.

This dog should be of the Demon pathway, Sequence 6 "Devil." Is it performing an advancement ritual?

Silas ignored the Devil hound's threat, speculating about the other party's motive.

Speaking of which, "Devil" seems to have many useful abilities. It would be pretty good to graze...

He sized up the large black dog across from him. Since I didn't get the clues, I'll take you as compensation... But can a Shepherd graze a dog's soul?

"Woof woof..."

Just as Silas was observing the black dog and preparing to make it his sheep, the Devil hound, which had been high-spirited moments ago, suddenly let out a startled cry and tucked its tail.

It seemed to sense Silas's intention and jumped back sharply, widening the distance between them.

The Devil's unique ability, "Danger Premonition"!

"Swoosh!"

Bat-like membrane wings grew from both sides of the black dog's body, and a pair of horns covered with mysterious patterns protruded beside its ears.

Flames lit up in its fur, crimson mixed with traces of blue, and a sulfurous smell filled the air.

"Flap, flap."

The Devil hound beat its wings, its body rising into the air, flying toward the outside of the alley.

It wanted to escape!

"Pierce!"

A golden light shot from Silas's eyes, rushing straight into the black dog's brain, acting on its spirit.

"Psychic Pierce"!

The intense spiritual impact made the large black dog immediately cry out in distress.

Its body became unstable and fell, but mid-air, it adjusted again and flew back up.

Want to run?

Silas opened his mouth slightly, wanting to use "Profane Words" to continue affecting its spirit.

Suddenly...

"Ugh!"

Silas abruptly covered his ears.

Ravings, without any warning, rang beside his ears. It was the True Creator's roar.

The voice contained intense anger, as if something had thoroughly enraged Him!

The ravings were unprecedentedly clear and intense. Before Silas could summon the tide, they echoed violently in his mind, causing him immense pain.

What's wrong with the True Creator?
