Chapter 187 - [188] : Testing the Gun

Because he had replenished an excessive amount of flesh and blood in one go, Silas's already unstable mental state became even more dangerous.

In the palace, the mermaid summoned by the Queen only temporarily calmed him but couldn't solve the fundamental problem.

Because that flesh was filled with massive amounts of spiritual residue that quickly began impacting Silas's consciousness.

So using human bodies to replenish flesh has this kind of drawback... Aren't those Rose Bishops of the Aurora Order worried about this?

No, wait, they were already insane to begin with. No matter how much spiritual residue from others there is, it can't overwhelm their fanaticism for the True Creator.

While thinking this, Silas endured the Hidden Sage's knowledge infusion.

The phantom tide in his mind made the flow of knowledge slow down to a tolerable level.

In a trance, he seemed to see on the desolate wilderness a pair of utterly indifferent eyes penetrating reality, gazing down at him.

A method to eliminate spiritual residue... Got it!

After carefully searching, he found what he needed from the flow of numerous useless and complicated information.

"I pray for the Sage's teaching."

"I pray for Him to bestow power..."

Silas raised the ritual dagger and moved it across his arm, cutting and carving strange patterns.

These patterns came from the Hidden Sage's teaching. Looking carefully, the patterns seemed like faces.

As the Hidden Sage's power surged in, the residual spirits within his body began to activate.

As if unable to endure the torrent of knowledge, these spirits instinctively moved, hiding into the patterns Silas had carved.

The patterns twisted and writhed accordingly, like faces opening their mouths and saying something.

Silas raised the dagger and cut without hesitation.

"Swoosh!"

He sliced off a large piece of flesh from his arm. Looking down, he found that beneath the skin and flesh, those face patterns still existed.

Damn it...

Silas gritted his teeth and gripped the knife, cutting deeper into the flesh. After gouging out a large chunk of flesh and blood, the spiritual residue attached to it was finally expelled.

However, even so, he still felt his spirit tilting toward the side of madness.

The influence of those spiritual residues acted directly on the depths of his soul.

Even after stripping them away, the damage already done couldn't be reversed.

Not to mention witnessing those things at the scene and the impact of extreme emotions, which greatly stimulated him when he was already quite sensitive.

He had clearly digested the potion, yet his mental state was even worse...

Silas smiled bitterly and ended his summoning of the Hidden Sage.

Before he could remove the spirit wall, suddenly, his nose once again caught that familiar fragrance, and a familiar figure appeared beside him.

Ma'am M gently stroked his arm with its horrible wound, her face showing a smile.

"Why aren't you dead yet?"

Silas asked coldly.

Ma'am M smiled without speaking.

"Why aren't you talking now? You were quite chatty at the banquet hall, weren't you?"

Silas pushed away the tall woman with red hair and golden eyes, making her fall sitting on the floor.

She showed a slightly pained expression but still didn't speak. It seemed she could only communicate with Silas when he fell into madness.

But Silas didn't want to communicate with her. Silas only wanted her dead.

"Click."

A crisp metallic collision sound rang from Silas's body. He pulled a silvery-white revolver from his pocket.

The Beyonder item, "Lucky Wheel"!

A perfect target had appeared. He wanted to test this weapon's power and usage.

"Bang!"

Silas distanced himself from her, then pointed the gun barrel at Ma'am M and pulled the trigger without a trace of hesitation.

"Psh!"

The bullet shot out. Ma'am M's earlobe was precisely hit and flew off somewhere. She touched her ear, showing a slightly pained expression.

Indeed, as the item description said, the accuracy is very high.

Silas thought.

With his shooting performance from his time at Blackthorn Security Company, hitting such a small earlobe at this distance would be completely impossible. Next, he should test that special ability.

Silas opened the gun's cylinder and removed the bullets one by one until only one remained, then lightly spun the cylinder.

"Whirrrr..."

The cylinder spun rapidly.

The brass-colored bullet left an afterimage in the silvery-white cylinder, forming a yellow ring.

"Clap!"

Without even looking, Silas casually snapped it shut, then pressed the revolver's barrel against his temple.

After a slight pause, he pulled the trigger.

"Click."

An empty chamber.

Invisible power was gathering. Silas's spirituality could sense that this gun seemed to have become different.

He thought for a moment, turned the barrel toward Ma'am M, and pulled the trigger.

"Click, click..."

The revolver's cylinder first automatically rotated, stopping at the position with a bullet, then the hammer fell.

"Boom!"

The revolver made a noticeably louder sound, and the powerful bullet shot out.

If not for the spirit wall blocking it, this gunshot would probably be heard by all the surrounding residents.

Ma'am M's abdomen immediately bloomed with a bloody hole about the size of a child's fist.

She still didn't speak, neither resisting nor fleeing, just quietly watching Silas.

The power is pretty good, about the same as a high-pressure steam rifle...

Silas nodded slightly. If that had been a Beyonder bullet, the corresponding Beyonder effect should also have been amplified.

Carefully observing the silvery-white "Lucky Wheel," he found the luster on the revolver's surface seemed to have dimmed somewhat.

Its spirituality has decreased. Looks like it can't be used infinitely...

Silas thought, then opened the cylinder again, removed the shell casing, loaded another bullet, and continued the previous process. This time, he wanted to test the maximum power this gun could achieve.

So he aimed at his temple and pulled the trigger repeatedly.

"Click, click, click, bang!"

The fourth shot, the bullet didn't miss.

"Splat!"

Blood splattered with a crisp sound.

Silas stood in place, nearly falling from the bullet's impact.

He sensed the bullet's power.

The good news was that if he shot himself, the shooting effect wouldn't be enhanced. The bad news was that the previously accumulated power would dissipate all at once.

Silas scooped up the fallen flesh from the ground, pressed it back onto his head, recovered a bit, then continued trying.

"Click, click..."

Perhaps because his head had taken a bullet, counting as accumulated misfortune, this time he became lucky enough that five consecutive shots were all empty chambers.

The Lucky Wheel's exterior became extremely shiny, clearly accumulating tremendous power within.

"Want a taste?"

Silas sneered, pointing the barrel at Ma'am M.

Before she could react, he pulled the trigger.

"Boom!"

The recoil from the handgun violently struck his palm.

The web between his thumb and index finger immediately tore, bleeding. The tremendous volume echoed within the spirit wall, making his ears ring.

Looking down, Ma'am M's body had disappeared, leaving only a deep pit the size of a bowl on the floor.

Oh crap, I tore up the landlady's floorboards...

Silas removed the spirit wall and looked at the mess on the ground, somewhat dumbfounded.
