Part 4 – Test Beginning
Caleb's team accompanied them behind Heiss and Kalika, behind them also came Rudolf and the guys, who were gossiping about what they heard outside the office.
They were expectant about what the duel between their leader and the one from Elend's inquisitors would be like, who had demonstrated their formidable strength in training; however, they lost against Heiss in an overwhelming and crushing manner, which left a question in the air: How strong is their leader Kalika?
Despite the high expectations for the confrontation, even for the inquisitors themselves, their minds were fixed on another topic, the marriage between their leaders is something that is not easy to assimilate. The most affected by the news of Kalika's plan was Cloe herself, who had a lost gaze into nothingness while moving her lips saying with an almost non-existent voice "Marriage"
Emily tried to maintain an appearance of calm, just like Ethan, both knew that if Kalika said it, it was because it was necessary, still, the bomb was a brutal shock; and now they also had to witness a fight between both of them.
"If the boss marries that witch who tried to manipulate him, then what does he expect her to do to him once they're married"
Jesus spoke as always with a loose tongue, not caring that a few steps ahead were all his subordinates.
On the plane, Heiss gave guidelines on what to do if things went wrong with Kalika; for that, he told them what he had gathered with Ana, her possible intention to use him and how they could even try to force him. Therefore, they were very predisposed before Kalika's visit to the airport, having a bad feeling even before meeting her.
Now that they knew she wanted him as a husband, they got an idea of the possible requests they would ask with his help to overthrow the Tanaka family.
Heiss decided not to withhold any information regarding Kalika because if she threatened him, he had the guys with a contingency plan that would sink her if she dared to make any act of threat.
"Who are you calling a witch, you sexist piece of shit?! He should feel honored by those words, you on the contrary...!"
Emily lost her composure and was about to make Jesus wish he had never said those words, but was stopped by Caleb, who grabbed her by the seam of her shirt and pulled her so she wouldn't get into trouble.
Surprisingly, and as ironic as it seemed, Jesus didn't miss the opportunity and stuck his tongue out at her showing a thumbs down, signaling that his boss would be superior.
"YOU'LL BE...!"
Rage took over Emily, she pointed at Jesus with her finger, returning it towards herself and showing how she would twist Jesus's neck and then strangle him.
Lucius and Marcus who were on either side of him took a step aside, moving away. Jesus, realizing he was alone and that the joke had gotten out of hand, knew that day, regardless of whether his boss won or lost, he would be the only one to be eliminated.
"...That's what you get for being an idiot"
Those were the only words of consolation from his companions.
Finally, they arrived at the basement. The hotel was known in the area for being one of the largest in all of Medellín, with private offices for work, rooms the size of suites, a pool on its top floor, and a gym with cutting-edge technology, from the machines to the ventilation system were perfect. The air inside would have even fewer particles than outside on the streets.
"Wow, so this is what being rich is like... and I used tires to train at home"
The life of the 4, including Rudolf, was in no way easy or abundant, and the most particular case was Marcus's, he grew up in absolute poverty; seeing the difference even in training levels made him feel inferior, as if those high-profile people could crush him because from the beginning they had greater privileges.
In the center of the room were Heiss and Kalika, the rest moved close to the walls, waiting to see what confrontation method they would use. Techniques and weapons were essential in battle, the first to grab the weapon would have the initiative, while the second could take countermeasures.
"I'll let you choose first, we have some real combat weapons that I have stored, although if you want we can use non-lethal ones, you can choose whatever you want"
Heiss didn't let himself be influenced by Kalika's words, although he could well take the weapons with greater lethality, not counting firearms, this would not be the option; not if he wanted to show his subordinates how the best way to fight was without being tied to specific weapons, it's better to be flexible with any fighting method.
Fighting with what you have is as fundamental as learning to move on the field.
Personality #4: "You have a good collection"
The suitcases contained weapons of different lengths and materials, some seemed to have a certain level of craftsmanship that made them seem extremely expensive works, more for collection than practical use.
'Katana, Wakizashi, Tachi, Jian, Dao... Sabre, Falchion, oh'
Personality #4: "Scimitar... and..."
"It seems you've already chosen your weapons"
He wasn't planning to choose any lethal weapon, but something or rather someone prevented him, without thinking much about the words that were piling up in his head, he decided what to do.
Personality #4: "Yes... although not exactly me..., I was going to ask you, why do you have this whole collection?"
When the question was asked, Kalika slowly removed her hair, a soft laugh escaped her lips.
"Many people ask me that, and more than a hobby I would say it's a training habit. I like to be flexible"
He observed her carefully, his eyes settled on her hands, on them there wasn't a single callus, this didn't mean she wasn't skilled. With her money, she could afford from time to time a laser treatment that would remove any imperfection from her hands, or even depending on her training she could avoid them. He couldn't go arrogantly dismissing his adversary for how she looked, he had already paid the price for being prejudiced once.
Personality #4: "I see"
"Well, then I'll choose this one"
It was a Flamberge, a long sword with an undulating shape, difficult to predict and a nuisance to block.
Heiss's weapon on the contrary was short, with benefit in close combat, a short blade with a pronounced curve, perfect for sliding cuts. Although such a short weapon would be a disadvantage; therefore, he decided to take two, taking advantage of the fact that there was another dagger that would help him compensate for his short sword, that was a rondel dagger, with a straight, narrow blade and sharp point.
"What rules do you want to follow?"
Personality #4: "Whoever cannot continue, immobilize the rival, and surrender"
"Sounds good to me"
Personality #4: "Although..."
She walked to her initial combat position and waited for him to finish speaking.
Personality #4: "I would like to propose 3 combats, the first two with weapons, and the last one without them"
"Isn't that a bit excessive just to measure your strength?"
Personality #4: "I want them to learn, it's a good way to train them"
He pointed at his team and hers.
"...Sounds good to me, now we just need to say who will give the start"
At that moment, Caleb approached with Rudolf, they had a coin.
"We two will supervise the encounter, the fight will begin when the coin falls to the ground"
Both accepted at the same time, Rudolf held the coin, feeling that something was going to happen that could define the future of both teams.
"Are you ready?"
"Yes"
"...Yes," the greenish tone was slowly diminishing, replaced by a silver gray.
"Good, then..."
"Tink," the coin was tossed.
"Clink!"
The instant it touched the ground, Heiss was the first to move, propelled, putting force in his legs to maintain the maximum acceleration inclined from his posture to his arms.
The idea was to get close and send a descending slash with his sword; however, this was deduced by Kalika, who pulled her arms toward her lateral part and accumulating the tension of her muscles, both feet and arms, launched a horizontal slash while taking a step forward.
Strong enough to be able to cut a person in half, even if her blade was undulated like waves, she could move it during the cut to increase the depth and be able to pass it through.
"Clank!"
The Scimitar blocked the Flamberge taking advantage of the accumulated potential energy that would be used for the vertical cut, which was modified at the last moment to defend.
The undulating shape didn't allow the two swords to be retained between each other, therefore, they slid and separated from one another.
What followed was a complete dance of orthodox European attacks by Kalika toward Heiss, while he defended himself using the sword and dagger to stop Kalika's attacks.
Despite Kalika's continuous attacks, these were of great coverage, therefore, with each slash she made, she left an opening large enough to enter even more into her personal circle and counterattack.
Blocking a descending blow with incredible force on Heiss, he was able to release for a moment the force that holds his arms and hands with his weapons, leaving a gap of force that would be used to spin at enormous speed, attacking and launching a sword attack toward Kalika's ribs.
Unfortunately, Kalika realized very easily and spun to the left on the floor, preventing herself from being cut seriously. She even took advantage of that moment to tense her muscles and launch a cut toward Heiss's head.
Which at the last moment he dodged, tilting his body downward.
This could have ended in a draw, but it didn't. When Heiss was tilting to escape the cut, Kalika foresaw the entire situation and sent a kick toward the lower part of his feet, managing to make him fall.
Spinning backward he was able to get away, unfortunately, it was also in Kalika's calculations, who had already launched a cut.
Heiss blocked the attack as always, assuming the same attack patterns, but this time it was different.
"Clankkkkk!"
The sword screeched a bit more than usual from the exchange of blows.
That was because Kalika had drastically increased her strength in that attack, which made Heiss go flying, taking advantage of his bad position and grip.
"THUD!"
The wall received all of Heiss's weight against its reinforced structure.
It held, and Heiss fell to the floor after the dry blow. His feet were sprawled on the ground, he appeared dark, with a downcast gaze, lost, as if he were somewhere else.
"Don't tell me that's all you can endure?"
She approached, holding the sword with one of her hands, it shone splendidly with the colors of the white light in the room.
She reached to be 2 meters from him. And although she had the certainty that the blow she had given him was with all her power, she didn't expect to finish so soon. Deep down she felt it, she turned to see her subordinates, and where there should be desperation or anguish, she saw people without worry, almost expectant of what would happen.
Personality #16: "Hahahahaha... hahahahaha"
Suddenly, a maniacal laugh made her become alert about the target she had in front, her adversary slowly stood up, putting his hands on his knees and rising easily; at the same time he cleaned his clothes with a hint of unconcern.
And there in his fallen gaze, it rose between mad laughs, a plum color intensifies leaving aside the characteristic silver gray.
Everyone who was on the side as spectators stood up upon seeing what was happening.
"BE CAREFUL MISS KALIKA, HE IS DANGEROUS!"
The person who shouted was Cloe, with concern. The others didn't know much, but Cloe had informed them that among all the personalities that Heiss had shown, this was one that she believed he couldn't control.
Directly, Kalika felt a suffocating pressure, almost as if pure and excessive hatred was looking at her, scrutinizing her and leaving her naked. Totally excessive hatred and bloodlust.
There are people who have the gift of being very perceptive like Cloe, but bloodlust is something you only feel when you've already gone through tumultuous difficulties that brought you to the edge of death.
And Kalika felt it.
He finished cleaning himself and grabbed his sword and dagger, almost as if it were choreography.
Personality #16: "Now the real first round begins"
For the first time, Kalika took a base defensive position, holding the sword with both hands and putting it between her and Heiss.
Personality #16: "This is just a test, but not for me. You deceived Heiss and must be rewarded for your selfish decision. You flaunted your confidence, showed your interests and superficial desires. I will be your judge, and also your executioner"
His voice was melodious, almost totally feminine, although with a sinister touch.
Personality #16: "So..."
His arms swayed in a refined way, only to open as if he were going to give a huge hug. His face contorted, full of ecstasy and finally, he immersed himself in his personality.
Personality #16: "COME TO ME BITCH"
