Gu Yuxuan froze. His eyes slightly widened as if to tell Ehuang to say that she was lying. But she wasn't.
He then slowly lifted his gaze towards Meng Xian, who immediately lowered his head.
In front of Mr Li's family, it was impossible to question them right there. Gu Yuxuan had to swallow hard to remain composed, forcing a smile back on his face.
"Please excuse us", Gu Yuxuan said to Mr Li's wife and she smiled with a head nod.
They turned and walked away. Meng Xian followed them, taking deep breaths to face Gu Yuxuan.
They stopped at a safe distance where no one was around. Gu Yuxuan went to stand in front of Meng Xian, waiting to hear what he had to say.
But Meng Xian remained quiet. He slowly raised his gaze but looked at Ehuang instead, as if to say, 'help me", but she just lifted her shoulders.
"So you're all just doing things without my permission now?"
"Mr Gu, I… we just want to share your burden."
