Chapter 26: A Confrontation of Witches, Vampires & Werewolves, Pt 2: Azur's Thunder
[Maximus POV]:
The army of supernatural tried to charge forward, but Max used a time distortion field to drastically slow their movements.
Then, both hands raised above himself, he began to chant, the sky blackening as he did so…
[Sebastian POV]:
Being magically blown back to his physical body was not something Sebastian had on his to-do list. And, unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience. It took a second for Sebastian to re-gather the psychic energy to push his consciousness outwards from desiccated physical form, but eventually he did manage it.
He psychically reached out to Max — Go, the Steel tykout, unfortunately, as his mind returned to Sunny South Carolina, Zeroing in on Max's location, he felt the hell hit a wall before he could get too close.
BANG.
It was all he could do to not get re-banished to the desiccated form upon impact with barrier spell that surrounded the field, staggering in his psyche form, Sebastian regained his bearings.
Looking around, he noticed the army of untransformed Wolves, Vampires and witches attacking Maximus —- Or, trying to. It seemed like an imperceptible field of sorts had physically slowed their movements.
'A movement slowing field?' Sebastian thought, having never seen such a thing before. 'It looks like the werewolves and vampires are running in slow motion. How curious.'
Then, looking up, he saw Maximus flying, his hands raised, eyes glowing a baby blue glow as the sky above darkened, lightning rumbling above.
'Holy Hells, the witch can fly?' Sebastian thought, noting the strain what he was doing being written on his face. 'No witch can maintain this much power and survive. He's drawing out more magic than he can control. He'll die at this rate.'
Noticing how Maximellius' nose was beginning to bleed, Sebastian tried to bypass the barrier — to no avail.
It wouldn't budge.
'I can't get in there — And even if I could, I have no physical form, so I can't even help the boy,' Sebastian realized, looking at Max's hovering form; he looked like he was drawing on the building lightning above — Sebastian was certain that such magic was… unnatural, as in, not naturally occurring; it was also likely deadly to all involved, including to caster. 'I… surprisingly, don't want you dead, Maximellius. It's quite the opposite, in fact. And, if you were to die, I wouldn't be able to get your end of the deal carried out. You think it's easy to find a receptive enough mind to enter just to get my presence known?'
It was then that 2 sadistic morons came to his mind, and Sebastian had the brilliant idea of getting them involved.
Looking up, silently promising to get help, Sebastian teleported away, psychically locking onto the two minds he wanted to get help from.
[Kol Mikaelson POV]:
"You're a… ghost?" Kol figured out. "No…More than that. A vampire consciousness given physical appearance, without presence. Where's your physical body? Desiccated somewhere, I'm guessing."
"You figured it out much too quickly," the vampire chuckled. "I suppose I should expect that from a vampire twice my age…".
"Where's Max?" Kai asked, clearly more concerned with the situation than the intruder at the moment. "You said he was in trouble, right? So where is he?"
"A field just west of here. He was surroun—," Sebastian began, but was cut off but the repeated striking sound of thunder.
CRACKLE! BOOM!
CRACKLE! BOOM!
BOOM!
Multiple strikes of lightning fell from the sky as all 3 men rushed outside to see it. Still coming down, as if the gods themselves were angry.
"That's him," Sebastian exclaimed.
But Kol and Kai were already heading in that given direction.
[Maximus POV]:
Chanting, Maximus watched as lightning struck the two phone poles, which then made its way to his hands, outstretched before him.
The blue lightning then, by Max's will, struck down the army below him. It targeted the vampires and werewolves, hopping to and from each like a web of lightning, eliminating all the werewolves first and foremost. The vampires' numbers were nearly halved and, at least 40 of the witches gathered were turned to char at the start.
This was all in the first 3 strikes.
The landscape was beginning to change because of the Alzur's Thunder he had summoned. Multiple impact craters were left in places; the ground was smoke. The charred remains left behind by the thunder striking its targets were some of the ugliest remains Maximus had personally laid eyes upon.
However, Maximus was sensitive to the changes made to his body — and calling down so much Ataur's Thunder — It had greatly drawn on his lifeforce energy. He had felt himself begin to weaken in lifeforce, almost dramatically so.
He actually was beginning to feel his hair go white. It was an unpleasant change. Bleached hair was certainly NOT his look.
"I have enough in me for one more strike," Maximus thought to himself aloud, as he floated above as he floated above the 70 vampires and the 20 witches left. "The field that slowed down time is still up but when I fall, it'll fall with me. Which means…"
Calling down an even greater amount of Alzur's Thunder than before, Max thought to himself, "The next strike must take out everyone else. I'll die, but I don't plan on staying dead for long."
Using all his willpower in his chant, Max had the sky glowing blue with thunder as he called down the greatest bolt of thunder yet.
BOOOOM!
He didn't even bother to conduct it through the phone poles, choosing instead to strike the remaining army directly. The strike completely obliterated what was left of the vampires and witches — and with them ashes and char, Max, eyes bleeding, nose flowing with blood, skin pale, hair bleached white, fell from the sky like a fallen meteor, dead before even making impact with the ground.
His dead body hit the ground just in time for three presences to round a corner and watch it happen…
