Chapter 603: Endgame Avengers Descend
Loki grabbed Thor tightly, refusing to let go.
"Don't go over there. She has the Power Stone in her hand right now. If you go, you're just volunteering to be her lightning-themed ornament!"
Thor turned and glared at him furiously.
"Shut your mouth."
"I'm saving your life, you idiot."
"Aren't you usually the best at turning tail and running to save your own skin?"
"Exactly, which is why you need to listen to me right now and not go throw your life away."
Golden Lion Shiki floated high above like a god, manipulating massive fragments of floating islands to furiously ram into Sanctuary II's shields.
A massive piece of ship wreckage smashed violently against the barrier, causing the blue energy shield to ripple violently.
The vicious glint in Shiki's eyes burned with even more fanaticism.
"Jihahaha! This turtle shell is f*cking tough!"
"Then I'll just slowly smash it to pieces, bit by bit!"
The secondary cannons of Sanctuary II immediately pivoted, locking dead onto Shiki.
Dozens of devastating artillery blasts fired simultaneously.
Shiki arrogantly waved his hand, and countless pieces of ruined buildings and rubble shot up into the sky, forcefully blocking every single blast.
Amidst the dust and smoke of the explosions, his laughter grew increasingly manic.
"Thanos, is it? I've taken a liking to this broken ship of yours!"
Imu stood quietly in front of the Five Elders, showing not a single hint of urgency to act.
Her gaze was locked onto the Power Stone in Hela's hand, then swept up to the intact Infinity Gauntlet worn by Prime Thanos on Sanctuary II.
Saint Saturn lowered his voice. "Lord Imu, is it time to strike?"
Imu didn't even glance at him.
"Wait."
Saint Warcury watched the deadlocked battlefield, his expression incredibly grim.
"If we keep waiting, the stones might very well fall into someone else's hands."
Imu spoke coldly.
"Before we take the stones, let these madmen whittle down Thanos's forces for us."
Saint Nusjuro gripped the hilt of his sword tightly.
"What if that monster, Blake, is watching?"
Imu's eyes instantly turned frigid.
The Five Elders immediately fell silent out of pure terror.
In the distance, the severely injured Thanos was pinned to the bottom of the crater by Akainu's scorching magma.
The mangled Infinity Gauntlet seized by Kizaru was tightly sealed in light dust, temporarily cutting off any external influence.
The injured Thanos stared up at his prime self in the sky, then looked at the gods and monsters brawling chaotically across the battlefield.
The extreme humiliation made him want to shatter his own teeth as he tried to rise again.
Like a god of slaughter, Akainu stood at the edge of the crater, the tip of Zanka no Tachi pointed straight at Thanos's throat.
"Stay down and behave."
Thanos let out a cold laugh. "You cannot stop him."
The scorching magma beneath Akainu's feet churned violently, sending thick black smoke shooting into the sky.
"Then I will burn both you pieces of trash, along with that broken ship, into ashes."
The third wave of devastating artillery was about to drop.
Sengoku's Great Buddha True Several Thousand Hands spread out, obscuring the sky once more.
But this time, the number of locked-on cannons had doubled.
Inside Tony's helmet, J.A.R.V.I.S.'s voice became extremely urgent.
"Sir, the energy level of the third volley exceeds the previous one by seventy percent."
Tony looked at the sky and cursed loudly.
"Can't these alien scumbags fight a war with some budget constraints!?"
Just as the death-bringing artillery was about to fall, a row of pitch-black hatches suddenly opened on the belly of Sanctuary II.
More than a dozen pure black drop pods plummeted from the sky, dragging long trails of fire as they slammed fiercely into the New York streets.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The pod doors blasted open.
The figures stepping out weren't Chitauri soldiers.
It was a team of Future Avengers, clad in the absolute pinnacle of nanotech armor.
Future Tony executed a clean combat roll out of his drop pod.
The liquid Nanotech Armor instantly flowed over his entire body like quicksilver.
"Boss, detecting massive unknown high-energy lifeforms."
Future Tony looked up and saw the sky-blotting Sanctuary II, then looked down at the ruined, chaotically warring New York.
His gaze immediately locked onto Akainu and Kaido.
One was dripping with magma, actively melting the ground beneath his feet into a lake of lava.
The other, sporting thick blood on his horns, was laughing maniacally as he carried a kanabo and smashed Cull Obsidian deep into the rubble.
"These monsters are definitely not any enemies in our files."
"Danger level: Extreme. Strongly advise maintaining a safe distance."
Future Tony glanced at his younger self in the distance.
Young Tony was being chased wildly through the sky by three alien fighters, and incredibly, he hadn't stopped making quips.
"Looks like he hasn't figured out the situation either."
Future Tony suddenly raised his hand, his nano-cannons deploying instantly.
"Then let's take out the most dangerous variables first."
At the same time, Future Captain America raised his shattered shield to block a Chitauri explosive round.
The violent explosion forced him several steps backward.
He looked up, just in time to see Young Captain America desperately defending a group of civilians retreating into the subway.
The two Captains, separated by eras, locked eyes deeply through the smoke and artillery fire.
Young Cap raised his shield, stopping in his tracks with high alert.
"Who are you?"
Future Cap paused for a moment.
"Someone who shouldn't be here."
Young Cap looked at that clearly more weathered, exhausted face, and his expression shifted.
"Me?"
Future Cap didn't answer directly.
He turned and viciously smashed an oncoming Outrider with his shield.
"Save the people first, talk later."
Young Cap didn't press the issue.
"Got it."
On the other side, Future Tony's weapon systems had locked dead onto Akainu.
Akainu had just sealed a group of elite Chitauri in a tomb of magma when blinding red laser sights flickered across his shoulder.
The next second, several high-explosive nano missiles tore through the air, screaming straight at him.
Akainu slowly raised his eyes, his gaze freezing cold.
Zanka no Tachi slashed horizontally.
A razor-thin line of incandescent white fire instantly whipped through the air.
Every single missile was precisely cleaved in half mid-flight, entirely incinerated into nothingness by the terrifying heat before they could even hit the ground.
Akainu glared coldly at Future Tony.
"You dare point your guns at the Marines?"
"Are you asking for a summary execution?"
Future Tony hovered in the air, his cannons still deployed.
"Just how many grumpy veterans showed up in New York today?"
Young Tony shot past from the other side, freezing in mid-air when he saw his future self.
"Wait—is this me?"
Future Tony shot him a cold look.
"Young, mouthy, and hasn't learned how to read a battlefield."
Young Tony immediately fired back without mercy.
"Buddy, you're wearing an upgraded version of the armor I designed with my own two hands. Where do you get off criticizing the original creator?"
"I upgraded this armor myself."
"Which was based on my flawless, genius brain."
"Cut the crap, and you might live a lot longer."
Young Tony fell silent for half a second.
"Sounds like you really are me. Your mouth is just as obnoxious."
Akainu had completely run out of patience.
"If you two want to argue, get the hell out of my way and do it somewhere else."
Both Tonys looked at him at the same time.
Young Tony lowered his voice. "Are you sure this highly explosive gentleman isn't a villain?"
Future Tony replied honestly. "Not sure. But a minute ago, he really was pinning Thanos in a crater and beating him up."
"Then let's not piss him off yet."
"Too late. I already did."
The scorching magma beneath Akainu's feet began to spread at an alarming rate.
In perfect synchronization, both Tonys rapidly gained altitude.
Young Tony couldn't help but complain. "Am I really that punchable when I'm mature?"
Future Tony shot back. "You've always been punchable."
High in the sky, Garp was just about to charge straight into Sanctuary II's main artillery zone when several unmanned Future Nano-Suits abruptly blocked his path.
