Chapter 256: The Sage Body's Might; Garp's Shocking Medical Skills
"Fleet Admiral Sengoku, you have to do something about this!" Kizaru cried out, his voice trailing with its usual lazy lilt. "I just used a life-draining ultimate to protect the headquarters, and what do I get? Domestic violence from Vice Admiral Garp! This is simply no way to live, isn't it? ~"
Sengoku's corner of his mouth twitched violently at the words 'life-draining.'
Life-draining, my foot!
He had clearly seen that brat, after unleashing that terrifying Dust Release, casually trimming his fingernails. He wasn't flushed, nor was he out of breath. Did that look like someone who had overexerted himself?
However, seeing Garp looking ready to charge again, Sengoku knew he couldn't let these two clowns continue their antics. There were far too many soldiers watching. The dignity of the Marines' highest combat powers was being dragged through the dirt by these two!
"Enough! Garp!" Sengoku growled, his voice low and authoritative. He adjusted his round-rimmed glasses, a sharp glint reflecting off the lenses. "This is a battlefield, not a playground for your games!"
"If Shiki escaped, he escaped," Sengoku continued, looking toward the horizon with a heavy gaze. "With his current strength, no one could have truly kept him here."
Though he said it to maintain order, Sengoku knew better than anyone that the threat of the Golden Lion had reached an unprecedented height. That ocular jutsu capable of severing space and that terrifying regenerative power... If Garp hadn't been there—another monster who seemed to have 'cheated' his way to new heights—Marineford might have been wiped off the map today.
"Furthermore..." Sengoku shifted his gaze across the wreckage of the harbor. "Letting him escape isn't necessarily a bad thing. At least it lets those five old men see exactly how much the situation has collapsed. If we don't align ourselves with that power soon, the World Government's rule might not even survive until next year!"
At the mention of the Five Elders, Garp snorted and finally stopped his pursuit. He pulled a bag of senbei from his pocket and crunched down on one with a loud crack, as if he were biting through Kizaru's bones.
"Humph! What do those five old fossils know? All they do is point fingers all day."
"That's enough!" Sengoku barked, glaring at the old man. Was now the time to obsess over that? Half of Marineford had been turned into a sieve!
Sengoku's eyes moved past the ruins to a massive crater in the distance. "Medical team!" he roared, his voice snapping the nearby soldiers out of their daze. "What are you waiting for?! Go check on Sakazuki!"
The medics, who had been paralyzed by the god-like battle they had just witnessed, finally found their courage and rushed toward the deep pit. However, before they could reach the edge, a charred, smoking figure staggered out from below.
Before the medical captain could react, a large hand grabbed him by the collar and tossed him aside like a stray kitten. Thud!
Garp sat down heavily beside Sakazuki. The lingering, terrifying aura around him sent the surrounding medics scurrying back in fear.
"Garp! What are you doing?!" Sengoku shouted, exasperated. "This is the time for saving lives, not for causing trouble!"
"Saving lives?" Garp scoffed, stuffing more senbei into his mouth. "With these quacks? By the time they fix him up, his soul will have already set sail!"
Garp looked down at the blood-matted figure of Akainu, who was clinging to his last breath. A complex emotion flickered in Garp's eyes. He despised the kid's 'Absolute Justice' and his cold-blooded executioner style, but Akainu was still a junior he had watched grow up. More importantly, he was a pillar of the Marines. He couldn't just let him die.
"Consider yourself lucky, kid. I just learned a few new tricks from that other world. I'll use you for some practice."
Garp tucked the remains of his senbei into his shirt and slowly extended a calloused hand over Akainu's mangled chest.
Whirrr—
The air vibrated slightly. A visible, pale green light began to gather in Garp's palm. The 'Sage Body' he had obtained from the Naruto dungeon was more than just physical durability; that boundless vitality was the ultimate medicine.
"Bear with it. This might itch a bit," Garp said with a grin that made the onlookers shiver.
The next second, Smack! His massive palm slammed directly onto Sakazuki's wounds.
"Mmph!!!"
Sakazuki, who had been numb from the pain, suddenly bolted his eyes open. A muffled groan escaped his throat as the veins on his forehead bulged like writhing earthworms.
It hurt! It hurt beyond belief! It felt as though countless ants were devouring his wounds, or as if lava was being poured into his marrow. But following the agony, a wave of unprecedented coolness surged into his body from Garp's palm. It was a power brimming with life—dominant yet gentle.
Crack! Snap!
The sound of bones grinding against each other filled the silence. Under the horrified gazes of Sengoku and Kizaru, Sakazuki's caved-in chest began to rise at a visible rate. Broken ribs knitted themselves back together; shattered internal organs reconstructed in seconds. Mangled flesh seemed to be stitched by invisible hands, and even the most hideous scars began to fade and vanish under the pale green glow.
Sssss—
Clouds of white steam rose from Sakazuki's body—heat generated by cells dividing at extreme speeds. In less than a minute, his fatal injuries were mostly healed. Aside from his pale face and tattered clothes, he looked nearly untouched.
Silence. A deathly silence. The medics stood with their jaws hanging open. What kind of medical skill was this? This was a miracle! No medicine, no surgery, not even a pair of hemostats. Just a hand held over the patient for a moment, and he was cured? What were they even there for?
Even Sengoku was stunned. He took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes to ensure he wasn't dreaming.
"Garp..." Sengoku's voice trembled. "What... what ability is this? Did you get this from that 'Dungeon' too?"
"Huh? This?" Garp withdrew his hand, casually wiping the blood on his pants. "I guess you could say that."
