The crimson domain shuddered, a low, structural groan echoing through the fractured vault as the colossal, half-materialized mass of the Chaos Dragon thrashed against the remaining boundaries of its confinement. Miasma hissed like superheated steam where dark scales pressed against white-gold spatial barriers, and the ambient pressure inside the dome threatened to collapse the surrounding geography.
"Release her!" Milim's voice cut through the roar, sharp and absolute. Her blue eyes blazed with a desperate, glowing intensity as she stepped to Loki's side, her palm outstretched toward the partially shattered cube. "All of it, Loki! If you keep her locked behind those walls while she's fighting this hard, the pressure will crush what's left of her soul!"
Loki staggered back half a step, ''Why is she commanding me. If anything I know a lot more about souls than her.'' He locked his jaw, his green eyes meeting hers with an unyielding, pragmatic calm.
"If I open every layer of Infinite Prison at once, there won't be anything left to save," Loki snapped back, his voice tight with exhausted authority. "The corruption is riding the outer boundaries of her spiritual core. If we drop all six seals simultaneously without a stabilizing anchor, the uncontained miasma will completely consume the surviving consciousness before it can reorient, or worse, it will detonate into an uncontrolled Chaos Dragon that we'd have to put down permanently!"
Their disagreement was immediate, sharp, and laden with the emotional wreckage of the past days. But for the first time since the crisis began, it wasn't a clash of hostility. It was a frantic, desperate debate between two beings who both wanted the exact same thing: Gaia's survival.
Milim's breath hitched. She looked from Loki's bloodied coat to the writhing, dark mass pressing against the multi-layered white-and-gold seals. The raw, terrifying logic of his words hit her with the force of a physical blow.
"Then what do we do?" Milim demanded, her voice losing its edge of command, cracking into a raw, vulnerable plea. "We can't just leave her trapped in there half-choked by her own corruption!"
"We don't," Loki said, his tone softening as he shifted his stance, stepping closer to her rather than away. He raised his left hand, the fractured obsidian cube hovering between them, pulsing with violent violet and pale emerald light. "We open it together. Layer by layer. You provide the external Draconic pressure to suppress the miasma's expansion, and I'll use Hades and the spatial anchors to peel back the seals one at a time. I need your destructive power as a stabilizing anchor, Milim."
Milim stared at him, stunned for a fraction of a second. He wasn't telling her to stand back. He wasn't treating her as a liability or a threat to manage. He was asking her to trust him, and in return, he was placing the most dangerous, delicate operation of his life entirely in her hands.
To be fair, Loki could definitely free and heal Gaia himself with ease. But he wanted Milim to participate in saving her friend.
"I can do that," Milim whispered, her shoulders dropping an inch as her terrifying, divine Draconic aura shifted from a chaotic storm into a dense, perfectly controlled current of pure golden-pink energy. "Tell me when."
"Now," Loki muttered.
He closed his eyes, plunging deep into the authority of Hades to anchor and preserve Gaia's surviving soul while his spatial authority locked onto the structural nodes of the containment seals. Manas: Loki tracked both systems in real time.
'Alert,' Manas: Loki reported instantly within his mind. 'Initiating sequential layer dismantling. Spatial anchor alpha is destabilizing. External magicule stabilization required immediately.'
"Milim, first layer—now!" Loki commanded.
With astonishing microscopic precision, Milim channeled her Draconic aura, wrapping a razor-thin lattice of divine force around the cube's exterior. She didn't blast it with the catastrophic fury of Drago Nova; she compressed her entire power into a scalpel-sharp containment field, freezing the escaping miasma the exact microsecond Loki's mental command dissolved the outermost white-gold barrier.
Snap.
The first layer vanished. A massive wave of ancient, suffocating pain blasted outward from the core. Not just physical agony, but the raw, unfiltered emotional terror of a child screaming in the dark. The psychic backwash slammed into both of them simultaneously.
Milim gasped, her eyes widening as Gaia's ancient sorrow flooded her senses. For a second, her control flickered, the golden-pink aura flaring dangerously.
"Hold it!" Loki shouted through gritted teeth, blood trickling from his nose as the immense cognitive load strained his spiritual architecture. "Don't let it scatter! Push it inward!"
Gritting her teeth, Milim forced her emotions down, slamming her will over her magicules. She reined the chaotic pressure back in, using her aura to pin the boiling miasma against the remaining five walls of the prison.
'Second layer destabilizing,' Manas: Loki intoned. 'Resonance friction rising sharply. Soul integrity holding, but spiritual pressure approaching critical threshold.'
"Second layer—peel!" Loki roared.
Snap.
The second white-and-gold barrier dissolved. The doubled pain. A searing wave of heat and malice tore through the psychic link. Milim's knees buckled slightly, but she refused to yield, pouring her Draconic power and divine will into the stabilizing anchor.
Outside Milim's fractured domain, Rimuru Arashi, Guy Crimson, and Frey felt the change immediately. The violent collisions that had hammered the barrier for minutes abruptly vanished. In their place came two immense signatures moving in measured synchronization. Milim's Draconic power compressing inward while Loki's spatial authority shifted against it in precise intervals.
Rimuru stared at the dome. "They're not fighting anymore."
Guy's eyes narrowed as another controlled pulse passed through the barrier. "No. They're working on something."
Frey's shoulders loosened by the smallest degree, but none of them approached. The domain remained too unstable to breach without risking whatever Loki and Milim were attempting inside.
Inside the dome, Loki and Milim pressed forward through Gaia's psychic agony.
'Stabilization achieved. Third layer accessible,' Manas: Loki reported.
"Third layer—now!" Loki called out.
Snap.
The third barrier dissolved. The pressure surged, and Milim compressed it, holding the volatile miasma in a vice grip of divine will.
Loki locked eyes with her across the cube. "Fourth."
"Do it," Milim breathed.
Snap.
The fourth barrier peeled apart. The psychic feedback was a torrent now. Centuries of dark isolation, the cold weight of corruption, and the faint, flickering ember of the original spirit fighting desperately against the dark.
With every layer that fell, Gaia's memories and pain flowed through both of them, a shared agony that bound their wills together. Milim wept openly, her tears evaporating into steam against her glowing aura, but her hands never trembled. She kept the Draconic clamp absolute.
"One left before the core," Loki breathed, his hands glowing with blinding Nephalem light as he gripped the structural nodes of the fifth seal. "Milim, get ready. When we drop this fifth layer, the corrupted core is going to be exposed. It's going to try to swallow her consciousness before we can apply the purification."
"I see it," Milim replied, her voice steady, hardened by an unshakeable, fierce resolve. "Open it, Loki. I've got her."
"Fifth layer—dissolve!"
Snap.
The fifth barrier peeled apart in a burst of white-gold light.
The domain erupted. But the containment shell did not vanish entirely; the innermost sixth wall remained. Through its translucent white-gold surface, Gaia's true soul core finally became visible and so did the corruption wrapped around it.
The dark, sludge-like corruption that had choked Gaia for centuries didn't just retreat, it convulsed violently inside the final chamber, coalescing into a dense, razor-sharp maw of pure malice that lunged directly inward, threatening to devour the surviving soul and complete its permanent destruction before they could finish the restoration.
