The search for Loki hit a snag.
Because Jeanne's provided location didn't detect any Gamma Rays from the Tesseract.
But it wasn't a major problem.
The all-knowing Jeanne could not only find people, but also the Tesseract. Shen He had Jeanne pray again for the Tesseract's location, and the result was a completely different direction than before.
It was obvious that Loki had separated from the Tesseract.
An even worse problem was that even in the direction of the Tesseract, the satellite's Gamma Ray search yielded nothing.
"This clearly won't work." Dr. Banner, responsible for searching for the Tesseract, found Shen He, accompanied by Coulson and Fury. "The Tesseract does emit Gamma Rays, but Gamma Rays can be completely shielded by lead plates thicker than twenty centimeters, as well as concrete over one and a half meters thick. This is high school physics knowledge."
"In other words..." Shen He blinked, "You can't track the Tesseract?"
"If the direction is correct, then it only means the Tesseract has been isolated." Dr. Banner looked at the others. "So, is there anything else you need me to do?"
"…"
"It's obvious that your Chaldea doesn't have high school physics in its curriculum for saviors." Fury looked at Shen He with an expression as if Shen He had stolen his girlfriend.
"Looks like you and Coulson are done catching up?" Shen He raised an eyebrow.
"I don't know what abilities you have that made my most loyal subordinate determined to follow you." Fury's face darkened. "But if it were the old S.H.I.E.L.D., it could monitor every wirelessly connected camera on Earth, phones, laptops—anything connected to the internet. No one could escape S.H.I.E.L.D.'s tracking."
It was obvious that he was still somewhat resentful about the brutal destruction of S.H.I.E.L.D.
What made him even more upset was that this organization he saw couldn't do what S.H.I.E.L.D. could.
"If Hawkeye hadn't chosen to follow you, believe me, we would have found the Tesseract by now." Shen He shut him up with a single sentence.
A single elite agent might not cause too much trouble, but an elite agent familiar with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s methods compensated for Loki's lack of understanding of Earth.
"But you knew the Tesseract would cause problems." Fury's face darkened further.
Hawkeye Barton was now the only elite agent willing to follow him; if something went wrong, he would truly be a commander without troops.
Shen He didn't respond.
Dealing with Fury was useless with just words; it was enough to make him realize that Chaldea could protect the world better than he could.
Shen He looked around at everyone and finally beckoned to little Huby.
Huby moved her feet and stood obediently in front of him.
"Huby." Shen He reached out and pulled her closer, "Can you detect wireless signals in the air?"
"Signal." Huby's eyes briefly glowed, then returned to normal. "Why use such a primitive communication method? It's easily infiltrated by enemies."
"This world doesn't have such powerful enemies," Shen He narrowed his eyes. "Can you infiltrate?"
"Requires learning." Huby's body swayed slightly, and she tilted her head. "Learning complete. Master, what does Huby need to do?"
"So fast?" Shen He was taken aback, then realized, "I want you to monitor every wireless camera on Earth, phones, laptops, anything connected to the internet, and then be able to track a few people."
This was exactly what Fury thought they couldn't do.
However, Fury didn't have the time to focus on this.
His gaze was fixed on the little girl in front of him, who looked only about ten years old.
The hamster suit's hood wasn't up at this moment, and he could clearly see the mechanical parts extending from the right side of her head, which looked like decorations, as well as the metal plate on her cheek and the two tubes behind her that resembled pipes. If it was just this, it wouldn't be enough to shock Fury, after all, he had seen someone who had undergone mechanical modifications the previous night.
He was wary because Huby had just used the word "learn."
To learn and crack a human's wireless network in a single moment?
"It's basically done, but there are still a few areas."
Huby's body swayed slightly, and a distinct light shone through her hamster suit, obviously increasing her calculation power.
At the same time, Tony, who was in the lab on the other side, suddenly received a warning from Jarvis.
"Sir, an unknown data stream is invading the entire network. I've never seen an algorithm like this before. It seems to have a life of its own and is learning at an incredible speed."
"Has a life? Jarvis, contact Shen He for me."
Perhaps Tony himself hadn't realized it, but now, whenever he sensed a problem, he had become accustomed to contacting Shen He immediately.
When Shen He received the message, he finally understood what Huby meant by "a few places." She was even more powerful than he'd imagined.
"Huby is amazing," Shen He gently rubbed Huby's hair. "Forget about those places we can't get into for now."
Huby put her small hand on top of the big hand on her head, and looked up. Her ruby-like eyes narrowed slightly, as if she understood something.
"Action, is reward?"
Shen He was stunned for a moment, then realized what she meant and nodded with a smile.
"That's right, it's a reward! Huby is so cute."
"Cute, what is?" Huby blinked her big eyes.
"Cute is, um, it means that people like you."
"Do you like it? Expressing friendliness, closeness, not wanting to hurt. Does Master like Huby?" Huby's hand, resting on Shen He's, curled slightly, as if making a fist.
"Of course I do." Shen He retracted his hand and lightly flicked Huby's forehead. "Alright, we'll do your ten thousand whys later. Let's get down to business now. Can you help me find a few people through those monitoring terminals? I can give you the images."
"Humans, too many." Huby looked at Shen He's palm. "Huby will do her best, but, need reward."
"Okay." Shen He nodded.
He wasn't quite sure where this closeness from Huby came from.
Actually, in the original work, Huby's initial closeness to Rick also seemed to have no precise reason. The desire to understand "heart" was clearly not a self-awareness that a typical Machine Doll would possess.
But, this was good.
"Coulson, you should have an algorithm for quickly recognizing faces, right? You can tell Huby; she'll learn quickly. However, since Barton is with Loki, we can't completely rely on this." Shen He thought for a moment and then said, "It's not a good idea to just wait here. Jeanne, you take Accelerator and Misaka Mikoto Alter with you to give it a try."
Regardless of what Loki was scheming.
It was best to have Jeanne find him directly, and then bring him back.
Besides, in front of Accelerator and Misaka Mikoto Alter, Loki's silver tongue wouldn't be very effective.
"Understood." Jeanne nodded, preparing to depart concisely.
Even though she was Shen He's lover, when facing her Master's command, she was absolutely a competent Servant.
"Also," after Jeanne left, Shen He decided to prepare more thoroughly, "Banner, you're an expert in quantum physics. If Loki wants to use the Tesseract to establish a stable space-time portal, he should need some essential components, right?"
Even if the plot changed, the settings shouldn't.
Just like Loki would need the energy from Stark Tower to heat the Tesseract and activate the portal.
"He needs to heat the Tesseract to over a hundred million degrees." Dr. Banner also pointed this out, "In addition, he needs Iridium, a metal that can act as a stabilizer for the portal, but they have Dr. Selvig, who is the leading expert in 'wormhole theory', so no one knows if he has any unpublished research results."
"Coulson, this is a lead, I'll leave it to you, have Natasha investigate. She and Hawkeye have worked together for so many years, she should be very familiar with the other party's abilities and methods." Shen He then looked at Coulson, "If you find something, have Steve help you."
"Understood, sir." Coulson turned and left.
"And then, Fury." Shen He looked at Fury this time.
"You want me to do things for you? I thought I was just here to visit."
Fury stared at Shen He with his only remaining eye, and even he had to admit that now they could only rely on Chaldea to save the world.
"You think too much." Shen He said in a low voice, "I only have one request for you, don't let the government, the military, the World Security Council, or anything else, come out and cause trouble before we need them."
"That's your goal?"
Fury finally reacted. "You didn't inform us of this crisis in advance, just so you could force us to rely on you. You want to seize a position through this crisis, making the whole world compromise with you."
"Not entirely."
Shen He didn't deny Fury's statement, but a cold smile couldn't help but appear on his lips.
"Even if I told you everything in advance, would you, or rather, those leaders of human civilization, give up researching the Tesseract? You know their courage and ambition better than I do. After all, constantly courting death is human nature. This is particularly prominent in your world. So, if they affect our work, I won't be polite."
If the World Security Council in the Marvel world was a group that could unite at key moments, then Shen He wouldn't mind letting them participate, even sharing some benefits for them to develop this world.
But in reality, perhaps to highlight the importance of superheroes, that group could only be described in one sentence.
More likely to ruin things than to accomplish them.
Whether it was the nuclear missile in the New York battle plot, or the military in the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent plot, or even the Superhuman Registration Act that triggered the hero civil war, it was enough to prove the cold and dark side of the regime in this world.
沈河 couldn't even understand it. When Asgard, representing a friendly force, appeared, the first thing they thought of was the potential threat posed by the existence of aliens.
Why didn't they try to get closer to Thor, the future king of Asgard, and seek cooperation?
Even if Odin might not agree, they didn't even try.
They didn't even send an official representative to formally contact Thor, but instead threw him to Fury, letting the prince become a superhero on Earth.
In short, after serious research and thought, Shen He had no expectations for the world's government. He didn't expect them to be helpful, just that they wouldn't screw over their teammates.
"So, you want me to avoid conflicts between you and the world's government?" Fury asked, using a questioning tone.
"No, I just hope to save the trouble of rebuilding the government." Shen He looked at him with a meaningful gaze. "You have to believe me, we have experience in this kind of thing, and we won't even harm ordinary people. It only takes a moment."
What they did in the world of A Certain Magical Index could be considered a reconstruction of the government of Academy City. If they could use the true god Saiki Kusuo, wouldn't it just take a moment?
Fury looked into Shen He's eyes, and his heart clenched.
That look told him the other person wasn't lying.
Even the power Chaldea had displayed was enough to do… well, to say nothing of anything else, just letting that little girl launch a cyberattack would be enough to collapse the world's order.
And who knew what other strengths Chaldea had yet to reveal?
But...
"I've long been displeased with those old geezers. Can you really avoid harming ordinary people?"
"What?" Shen He's expression was momentarily blank.
"Just kidding." Fury already knew the answer he wanted in that instant. "We pursue not just peace and security, but for you, I'm afraid Hydra's methods wouldn't be a problem at all. So we're not on the same path. It seems I can't retire so soon."
"…" Shen He suddenly wanted to flip him off.
However, with Fury acting as a buffer between Chaldea and the world's governing powers, he believed things wouldn't get too bad.
In any case, the Marvel "main world" should be prioritized for stability.
After all, if they ran out of travel cards, they'd only be able to come here.
Shen He didn't want to live long-term in a chaotic world.
After sending Fury away, he also had Dr. Banner temporarily leave his current project and work in his own independent lab. He told him the reason directly: to prevent enemies from triggering his transformation.
Dr. Banner chose to cooperate.
Meanwhile, Jeanne, with the help of Revelation, was approaching Loki's location aboard an invisible fighter jet.
But before they met, another event occurred.
A tech company with a large amount of Iridium was violently broken into. By the time the news reached Shen He, the robbers had already left, the whole process taking no more than twenty minutes.
There was only one robber.
"Nebula," Shen He rubbed his temples.
This was the change brought about by the butterfly effect. In the original story, Loki still needed to use himself as bait to cover Hawkeye, but now, he could directly rob with Nebula's inhuman strength.
