Michael's breathing was rapid, his fists clenched tight with rage. When Mercy placed a hand on his shoulder, Michael drew in a long breath and looked at her. Seeing the worry etched across his face, Mercy's heart sank.
"Michael, tell me—what happened? Why are you so disturbed?" Mercy asked anxiously, looking straight at him.
In a cold, heavy voice, Michael began to explain. "Hell is finished, Mercy. Orobas has betrayed us. Seizing the right moment, he has taken control of all of Hell and extinguished The Eternal Fire. Gandolf is in grave danger, and there is no trace of Lucifer anywhere."
Hearing Michael's words, Mercy felt the ground slip from beneath her feet. That fire had been the source of their weapons and their power.
"What are you saying?" Mercy asked Michael in disbelief. "How did all this happen?"
