As we walked into the apartment, Jaxon turned on the light. I couldn't help but recall my father's face telling me he would find me, and I could not escape him.
It sent shivers down my spine as Mary stared at me with concern. She had been asking me right from the car.
What was wrong? I did not have the right words to express what had just happened. She escorted me to a seat as I sat down, taking off my coat, which revealed all the scars that were still healing. Jaxon rushed to turn off the AC and turn on the heater instead, but I was not concentrating on anything.
The only thing on my mind was the image from a few minutes ago.
Mary still wasn't ready to give up on me yet, and quickly sat beside me as she tapped my shoulder gently. "You still haven't told me what happened to you. You have been in a state of shock for some minutes now," she asked.
