Chapter 137 - Proof of a Legend

Anyone else ever wake up,

turn their head—

And suddenly, an infant legendary Pokémon is lying beside them?

Bai Chen stared at the tiny, dazed creature in front of him.

He pinched his own cheek.

The pain said it clearly:

The Cosmog on his bed was real.

 │ "It really is a Cosmog…"

Among all legendary Pokémon,

Cosmog was arguably the easiest to obtain—

If you could call a baby legendary "easy."

Sure, it looked adorably clueless now…

But after two evolutions, it would become:

Solgaleo or Lunala — base stat 680.

He quickly pulled up its status window.

**[Name]: Cosmog

The mark of a legendary Pokémon. Massively boosts all stats.

Ultra-Space Affinity — Rarity 7, Beginner (2/700)

Innate mastery over spatial powers, massively amplified when using them.

Light Absorption — Rarity 8, Beginner (5/800)

 Grows by bathing in light.

At its peak, it can even alter the light and darkness in the world.

Teleport — Rarity 3, Beginner (2/300)

Uses psychic power to relocate instantly.

Bai Chen's eyes locked onto the first move:

 │ "Proof of the Legend…"

His heartbeat quickened.

Just like Elder Dragons in Monster Hunter had "Ancient Dragon Blood,"

legendary Pokémon in this world had a universal ability of their own.

He'd seen it on Tapu Koko.

He'd seen it on Solgaleo.

But he couldn't beat either of them—

This skill had always been a dream sitting on the very top shelf.

And now, the dream was in arm's reach.

He grabbed his Bond Stone, ready to copy it—

…only to see the skill still sealed.

Unavailable for Cosmog.

Unavailable for him.

 │ "Tch… fine.

  I can wait.

Once it unlocks, I'm taking it immediately."

He was already imagining the power:

Proof of the Legend × Ancient Dragon Blood…

What kind of monster would he become?

He lifted the baby legendary into his arms.

│ "Cosmog is too much of a tongue-twister.

From now on, you're 'Little Nebula.'"

"Little Nebula" was originally Lillie's name for it—

in both the games and the anime.

It sounded good, so Bai Chen adopted it.

He thought:

In the games, Little Nebula escaped Aether Foundation with Lillie…

In the anime, Tapu Koko entrusted Little Nebula to Ash to raise…

Then it evolved into Solgaleo and left.

He had very carefully searched Ultra Space, hoping to find one—

But he never spotted any wild Cosmog.

Instead, Solgaleo found him.

│ "So Little Nebula was definitely left on my bed by Tapu Koko."

Obviously.

│ "A legendary wouldn't appear there by accident.

They want me to raise it."

He smirked.

│ "In the anime, Ash had Aura Link and destiny nonsense.

  But now?

I'm the one who stole his opportunity."

Tapu Koko recognized Nergigante's growth.

Solgaleo witnessed Bai Chen's strength in Ultra Space.

It made sense they'd entrust the baby legend to him.

 │ "So basically—

They're treating me like a free babysitter."

He narrowed his eyes.

│ "But they don't honestly think I'm like that idiot,

doing 'release the legendary' nonsense, right?

If you join my team, you don't leave.

  Ever."

He already had methods to prevent disobedience or departure.

Even a grown legendary wouldn't escape—

let alone a baby one.

Bai Chen softened his expression, smiling at Little Nebula.

 │ "Hungry?

Come on, I'll get you something to eat."

 │ "Mogu~!"

The little creature bobbed its head rapidly—

definitely hungry.

Bai Chen carried Little Cosmog in his arms,

Nergigante leaping up to perch on his shoulder,

and headed downstairs.

Shock at the Breakfast Table

Just as he reached the dining room,

he ran into Lillie and Gladion—freshly awake.

Both opened their mouths to greet him…

And then froze.

 │ "B-Bai Mr. Bai… that is…?"

 │ "My new partner."

│ Bai Chen lifted the puffball.

Gladion's eyes narrowed.

│ "This creature… It's not from our world, is it?"

 │ "Smart.

  It's an Ultra Beast—

  and a baby legendary."

The siblings were stunned.

Legendary.

Baby.

Ultra Beast.

Where on earth did he get this?

│ "You caught it in Ultra Space?" Gladion asked.

 │ "How could I?

It appeared on my bed this morning.

Probably dropped off by Tapu Koko."

Gladion's eyebrow twitched.

│ "You expect us to believe that?"

 │ "Why would I lie?

It really was on my bed when I woke up."

 He shrugged.

│ "Honestly, you guys put legendaries on too high a pedestal."

His adaptability was simply greater.

After all—

He had Nergigante.

He could create dragons stronger than legends.

Compared to that, one baby legend wasn't shocking.

 │ "Indeede, Little Nebula's hungry.

Please take care of him for a bit."

Indeede—ever the emotional caretaker Pokémon—

was perfect for childcare.
