The fifth morning did not feel quieter.

It felt measured.

At exactly 8:00 a.m., refresh cycles slowed.

Dashboards that had updated every five minutes now refreshed every fifteen. Rotational audit schedules replaced continuous oversight. Volunteer forums shifted to structured windows instead of round-the-clock streams.

Nothing disappeared.

But the lights dimmed.

And when lights dim after days of brightness, people squint.

Marcus watched the metrics the moment the first delayed refresh triggered.

"Here we go," he murmured.

Adrian folded his arms. "Spike?"

"Not yet."

Elena stood near the glass wall again, sunlight cutting across the room in sharp angles.

"Wait for interpretation," she said quietly.

Because change is never about action alone.

It is about what action means.
