"What?" She almost choked on the word.
He looked at her now.

It must be the first time he had looked away from the road since he had started driving. His gaze moved from the bracelet to her face, and he set his focus back on the road.
"Do not make me repeat myself, Miss Summers."
Her fingers instinctively trembled around the necklace, like the order was something she found but refused.

Did he know then, about Louie's warning, about what the bracelet was capable of?
Louie had said Mr Lythoryn didn't bother himself with the use of too much technology and that was why there were no cameras in the mansion. So maybe he didn't know about what the bracelet could really do —- that it connected her to Louie no matter how far away they were from each other.
"I— I can't," she said, her voice heavy.
