Is that so?
Hear the word over and over and over again her mind.
It was a mere question? She should be able to answer it. She should be confident. She should spin him a lie quickly. But she couldn't.
She had been caught.
And now everything felt like a trap.
She tried to walk past him, but he stood in her way.
" I'm listening, Miss Summers," the word dragged in the air, his eyes sat on her.
The room was so quiet. Every breath she took, she could hear.
Her heart was slamming so hard in her chest. It was starting to physically hurt.
"I— I—" she wanted to say a lie, but her mouth was failing her now.
Her hands slipped around Arik, who babbled to joyfully. It seemed that her baby did not know know when there was danger.
