Chapter 9 - All Shades of Different Coins

"You did this to me, you fucking bitch!" Kinet lurched at Ann the moment they got back into the room.

Slaps.

Blows.

Kicks.

Idalia moved away from them, ensuring that Arik wouldn't get hurt.

The brown wavy hairy woman, Rosabel, immediately tried to end the fight. Pulling Kinet away when she finally got the chance.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Ann fired, pushing back her blonde hair from her face. Her breaths were coming out in harsh pants.

"What is wrong with me? What is wrong with me?!" Kinet flared around, trying to get out of the woman's grip, but she was too strong for her. She yelled in frustration, before words rushed through her lips with so much speed, Idalia almost couldn't catch them all.

"You told me your rich business mafia daddy was going to solve my mum's problem!" Then she turned to the room. "You know what she did? She sold me off."

"And they got us both." Ann threw her hands up in the air. "Cry about it."

Idalia stood there stunned. Arik had messed up his pants and she was supposed to change him but this… this was bizarre.

Humans were such strange creatures. One would think that because they didn't have wolves, claws or fangs, that they were not terrible. But no, they were terrible all on their own.

Grandpa Alfred had told her that but this was Idalia's first experience witnessing it firsthand.

"You two must stop fighting right now," Rosabel said. "Or else there will be consequences."

"Damn consequences. I'm going to kill that blonde bitch today!"

"Oh, I'm the bitch now? How about you ring ringmummy dearest governor of Centra-city district to get you out of here, uh? Oh, no. Mummy is in jail!"

"Fuck. You!"

Before Kinet could lurch at Ann a second time, the door pushed open with a force.

"What is the noise about?" A guard rushed in and as if possessed, Kinet sprinted out through the door, not looking back. Not even once.

"She caused it," Ann said. "She caused everything!"

The guards looked at each other and they seemed to share a smile before shutting the door and leaving. But before them, one of the guards had looked at her, as if expecting her to run too.

His attention did not settle well with her. She shifted from one foot to another, but that was all.

A devilish smile had played on his face before he left.

It was only then that Idalia realised that he was the same guard from the hall, the one who had almost caught her with a knife.

Ann muttered under her breath about how much of a crazy bitch Kinet was, as she retired to bed.

"We won't see her again," Rosabel said and the look in her eyes was of complete sadness. "They just want an excuse."

Idalia nodded.

Well. That was over.

She needed to take care of Arik now.

But the woman turned to her and stood in her way just as Idalia was about to walk past her.

"They are waiting for you too. Any mistake and they will be on you." She whispered, ensuring the words would be only for Idalia's ears.

Idalia frowned and looked at her. "What?"

"Do you think they didn't know you had that knife? They want you to use it. They want an excuse."

Idalia's heart raced at her words. But before she could even recover, Rosabel held her hand with a tight grip. "Whatever it is that you are planning against the Grand General, just don't do it." She hissed.

Idalia tried to yank her hand away from her immediately, but her grip was too firm. "I don't know what you are talking about."

"Your child does not deserve to die for your stupid decisions." Only then did she let her go.

Enraged, Idalia stormed to the bathroom and slammed the door behind her.

Creepy woman!

The next morning, Kinet's head was found on a spike, along with the heads of others who had tried to escape last night.

"Ah! Good riddance."' Ann said next to her before leaving to continue sweeping and muttering bitterly about how terrible it was to be a worker.

But all Idalia could see were the heads on the field, planted like flowers.

She let out a shaky breath and wrapped her arm around Arik, who was strapped to her with a shawl.

Rosabel's warning rang in her ears.

If she wasn't careful with her plan to destroy the Grand General, hers and Arik's heads might just end up here.

"Sanctuary, my foot!"

The air smelled of blood and terror.

Bodies lay on the floor, desecrated. The ones that still lived, huddled up together in one corner of the room, trembling.

Their eyes of fear were trained on the man who wore furs on his back; the skin of other alphas he had killed - a testament to his cruelty.

"I'm going to ask you one more time." His voice cut through the tension in the room, as his claws dragged along the wall, leaving behind deep marks. "Where is she?"

"I—I— don't know."

The man came to an abrupt stop.

"Wrong answer."

Blood splattered on the walls in seconds. The kneeling man fell to the floor, his body lifeless.

The fear thickened and the man dragged in a maddening sniff.

When he opened his eyes, they flickered between red and gold. He slammed his fists against the wall, breaking it down at impact.

"I'll kill all of you." He laughed. Then turned to them, his voice becoming a murderous growl. "I'LL KILL ALL OF YOU!"

Rage.

"WHERE IS IDALIA?"

Madness.

"WHERE IS MY MATE?"
