As they left the estate, Chase was a bit shocked "How did this investigation turn into a capture mission?"
Donny wasn't too fond of the mission change either, It seemed to be made to spite the guard.
"Don't know, but it's best to ask around, see what it could be. First, let's check in with shiva, so to not have to deal with the consequences later."
After asking some of the patrols they were brought to a few tents on the edge of the town
Here warriors were training and trying to advance themselves. One could see many in sword fights. once they saw the Torchbearers, a few men came up.
"Look, Harold's dogs are here" A man with no hair a a full beard said, showing no respect.
The men around him laughed as well.
"At least dogs have hair on their heads"
Damian wasn't letting any disrespect get past him.
The argument would have continued if Mrs Shiva had not arrived "Now now boys, I need you to find them a place to rest, we just searched all day and I'm too tired to give orders"
These men clearly knew not to mess with her, going from immature to respectable in in instant. "Yess ma'am!" They said, straightening their backs.
*Later on that night
It was pitch dark, A young couple were quickly walking home after getting a good distance away from the guard.
A man and a woman in their early twenties were snickering, His arms wrapped around her. He rested his head on hers.
"It sucks that no place is open, I would have loved to spend the night with you eating there."
The man pointed at a store across the street, tables put on the chair. It was clearly closed, but only because of the town being in panic.
The woman smiled "Jacob, I'm just happy to spend time with you at the moment." She got to the right side of him before grabbing his left hand. "Moments like this are ones you always look back on." A cute smile formed on her face.
'Dixie, by god I'll marry you!' Jacob had made up his mind. They kept on talking for a few minutes, before stumbling across an alleyway with weird noises coming from it.
after thinking on it for a few seconds, Jacob refused to investigate. He had too much to live for, creepy things roaming the village etc.
"Let's leave." That's what he wanted to say, But Dixie had already took a peak inside.
Her breathing seemed to get heavier, she began shivering.
"What's wrong?" Jacob said, wrapping his arm around her. Simply deciding to look inside, he immediately regretted his decision.
Inside was a man in wearing leather armor with long hair, his eyes looked devoid of life.
He wore no expression as he stood over 5 dead bodies.
As he touched them, each one began shaking, turning into a giant, living ball of flesh, bones seemingly liquified.
What happened next was the flesh emitting a black fog, before turning into a giant monster, pale skin, tall, deathly skinny, with only darkness in place of their eyes, and too many teeth in their mouths.
As he was creating those abominations,
Dixie's breathing had alerted him. He turned his head to greet his new guests. "Well hello there." His voice sounded eerie and gurgled. one could tell he tried his best to fix it,only making it sound even more wrong.
Just as he said that, every monster that was next to him began looking at them as well,
Craning their ugly heads.
Seeing his lifeless eyes sent Dixie into a panic. She froze. "What the hell?" Jacob was put off as well. What was this thing doing and how?
'That doesn't matter, I'm getting her out of here!' He went to grab her, only for him to not be able to move afterwards.
"What?"
Before he had noticed, tens of coarse ugly, undead looking hands had grabbed onto his figure, those clawed hands being ones from the monsters created.
They had gotten to them before they could react
The last thing in Jacob's vision was of the man and his uncanny eyes, smiling.
"Do it" at his command the monsters gripped his skull with extreme force. A loud cracking sound ended the poorly timed date.
