Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Never Before

Staring at the werewolf construction crew standing on the construction site.

She gritted her teeth and shouted, "You have no right to destroy something into which someone has poured all their heart and soul! Every blade of grass, every stone slab here was personally crafted by him over a full six months!"

The beastmen working enthusiastically over there didn't even look up.

One of the tall beastmen said loudly, "This is the family head's order, who dares to defy it?"

Another young beastman added, "Since the eldest son is now confirmed unable to leave an heir for the family, according to ancestral teachings, the new heir should naturally be the second son. And the ownership of this villa area should naturally fall under the second son's jurisdiction."

Hearing these words, tears fell from Nico's eyes on the spot.

"Do you really have to start demolishing now? Hayden has no spiritual power at all right now; his consciousness is on the verge of collapsing! What he needs most at this moment is someone to stabilize his emotions, not tearing down his sanctuary!"

She held tightly to the struggling little butterfly.

He is in an extremely dangerous state right now, and instead of seeking help from his female master, you're here destroying his last solace... I will report you to the Interstellar Federation!"

Some beastmen who were initially just watching the commotion started frowning upon hearing this.

Someone murmured quietly, "So the real female master isn't her... No wonder we've never seen them appear together in public before."

Another voice dropped much lower.

"They usually look like they're on good terms; could it be they're secretly in cahoots behind the rightful master's back?"

"That's true... If even in his beast form there's no female master to calm him, it seems it's not a lie. If I were the real eldest son, I'd have kicked him out long ago too."

An older beastman shook his head and sighed, "No one would genuinely help such a disloyal and unrighteous person. If it were up to me, I wouldn't care about his life or death, either."

The surrounding discussion was mixed with ridicule and sneering.

She suddenly looked up, her eyes angrily scanning the surroundings.

"You know nothing! Hayden is nothing like what you describe! He's always been loyal to that so-called eldest son, never betraying even a tiny bit!"

Her voice trembled with sobbing.

"It's his so-called female master... that woman is cold and cruel, knowing full well that his mental state is on the brink of collapse, yet she refuses to comfort him..."

"Then why are you so tense about him? If you truly like him, why not compete directly with his female master? Compete fairly."

Upon hearing this, Selene couldn't help but frown.

She let out a slight, cold chuckle.

"She is the female master!"

She slowly opened her mouth.

The tall and strong males surrounding her fell silent upon hearing these few words.

Each of them lowered their heads and didn't dare to breathe too hard.

They originally wanted to summon the courage to approach this rumored S-level female master.

But the moment they met her gaze, they all turned their eyes away.

"My god, she's looking at me—"

Someone murmured softly, their voice trembling with uncontrollable excitement.

"I wish I could go home with her..."

"She was clearly smiling at me!"

Another person immediately refuted.

"Such a cute female... even taking on the role of a secondary spouse would be worth it! Just to be by her side!"

Even though Selene's face didn't show a real smile.

But her round and delicate face, paired with her clear and captivating eyes, made one want to draw closer.

"It's you."

Amidst the ongoing discussions, a familiar, cold voice suddenly cut in.

Nico sharply lifted her hand, flinging away the hand that had initially rested on the hem of her clothes.

Her eyes cold, she gritted her teeth and asked, "What are you doing here?"

It was this woman who personally crippled Hayden Langdon's fingers, destroying his dreams and future.

He could no longer hold a paintbrush.

The young man once hailed as a genius painter can now only sit silently in a wheelchair.

"You didn't come just to laugh at us, did you?"

Nico suppressed her anger as she spoke.

"As long as I'm alive, I won't let you hurt Hayden again!"

Selene didn't respond immediately but instead took a gentle step forward.

Just this one step made the once-aggressive Nico unconsciously take half a step back.

Though she is Hayden Langdon's cousin, Nico's family is far from matching the prestigious Langdon Family.

Her passion and determination, in the end, are only her personal sentiment.

As for strength, as an A-level spiritual power user.

She may be considered a rare talent among males.

But before an S-level like Selene Kane, she's still not a match.

Considering talent suppression and strength gap, if Nico is not careful in her response, she may be completely destroyed in an instant!

The duel someone mentioned earlier refers to a unique form of confrontation among females.

This challenge does not rely on physical strength or combat skills.

But rather, it's a mental confrontation.

For this reason, it forms a uniquely competitive model.

Females are very rare, yet extremely precious.

Of course, there are cases where several females simultaneously favor one male; this is not unheard of.

This situation is particularly common in some large families or resource-rich areas.

Especially males with outstanding talent, handsome appearances, and prominent statuses often become the object of pursuit for many females.

If it's a strong-bodied male with thick skin and strong recovery ability, both sides can engage in direct combat without worrying about casualties. Preciousness is also a part of the duel.

After all, they have stronger vitality to bear the cost of battle and can quickly recover from injuries.

But among females, it's entirely different.

The life of a female not only represents herself.

It also concerns the continuation of offspring and the future of the entire race.

If a valuable female loses her life due to jealousy, it can lead to irreparable consequences for social order and even species development.

Therefore, female duels generally center around spiritual power.

This is a gentler and lower-risk method.

While avoiding bloodshed and death, it can also demonstrate true strength.

Spiritual confrontation may not be as violent as physical clashes.

But in such a mental collision, the outcome is equally clear.

The victor is imposing, while the defeated is dispirited.

Due to the absolute crush of spiritual power levels, the duel exists within the same level, where there is an absolute suppression relationship.

So such confrontations mostly only occur among peers.

In other words, if a Sixth Rank female tries to challenge any existence above Seventh Rank.

Her spirit would be crushed the moment it comes into contact, making victory almost impossible.

Therefore, in this kind of rule, one must carefully select the opponent.

Historically, there have been attempts to challenge beyond one's level, but no one has ever succeeded; it has never happened to this day.
