"Bang bang bang!"
The door was knocked loudly.
Gu Lan was leaning over her desk chewing on math problems, and was so scared that she dropped her pen.
"Who is it?"
She ran to open the door.
Outside stood a postal worker in a green uniform, carrying a huge cardboard box on his shoulder.
"Is this the home of Comrade Gu Yanshen? A package from Beijing, please sign for it."
Gu Lan's eyes lit up.
"Beijing? Is it from my mom?"
She quickly signed her name and rushed into the house with the box.
"Sister-in-law! Sister-in-law! My mom sent something to us!"
Lin Wanyi was in the kitchen stewing chicken soup and came out upon hearing the noise.
Gu Lan was already eagerly tearing open the box.
Inside, neatly stacked were piles of yellowing books and notes.
On top was a letter.
Gu Lan opened the letter and quickly scanned it.
"Wow! Sister-in-law, look!"
Her voice was so excited it changed tone.
