Gideon's face fell. He realized her mind was trapped in the painful memories from six years ago. Renewed sense of guilt pressed heavily on him.
He lay down beside her and drew her gently into his arms, holding her against his chest. "I believe you," he murmured close to her ear. "I'm already investigating everything. I'll uncover the truth."
He had reviewed the surveillance footage from the party countless times. He was convinced Summer hadn't pushed her. Though the angle was unclear, it appeared that Danica had lost her balance and fallen on her own.
Danica framed Summer, accusing her of killing her child. Yet the question lingered – why would Danica hate Summer?
Summer had not done anything wrong to her. Instead, she had always been respectful to her.
Nothing about it made sense.
"I'll find out her intention," he vowed softly. "Give me some time. I'll make things right."
