Summer rushed into the hospital and went straight for the ICU, urgency driving every step. As she drew closer, she spotted her mother speaking with Ashton and immediately hurried toward them.
"What is happening?" she demanded, alarm flashing in her eyes. "How is Hope? Her condition had stabilized. Why did she start bleeding again?"
Ashton's expression darkened. He still hadn't found a clear answer. He had reviewed Hope's reports that very morning. Everything had been normal, and she had been fit for surgery. He had even spoken to her during his rounds. She had seemed perfectly fine.
For her to collapse so suddenly made no sense unless something deeply disturbing had happened to her, something that had shaken her to the core.
"We are running tests," he replied steadily. "We'll find out soon. But she's extremely weak right now. Anything could happen. You need to be prepared."
