Chapter 118 - Authors Note

Alright, Evening from my side of the world Fam.

Now I feel the need to get a few things straight.

First off .... What's currently happening to the MC is not a Nerf. I repeat, it is not a Nerf. It's just the buildup to a powerup.

Second, for those who are worried that this will turn into an edgy MC revenge arc where Yuta goes full Vigilante Mode on the League Of Villains .... That's not happening. At least not the way you are probably thinking.

And three .... For those who feel the quality of the story is deteriorating ... I have nothing to say.

If you think so because of the short cliffhanger chapters because yeah, I have gotten a lot of complaints about the chapters being short and having no substance in most of them then I can understand your frustration.

It feels like I am intentionally dragging it out with filler.

In reality I am not.

My explanation can be found in two things. One, I am a bit obsessive with buildup. I will never be able to write the next chapter if I don't get the buildup right.

Call it an instinct I developed after a year of writing but I always feel compelled to write those buildup chapters that show the reactions of side characters and all.

This is not a new trait.

My original readers who know me from my first ever fic can probably vouch for me (if they still remember that is) that I write like this.

Compared to my first Fanfic where the MC can stay like ten chapters without appearing once and I spend all that time developing the side characters because I was a big DC fan when I was writing it, this is honestly a lot better.

I am not saying it is something to be proud of because whether it is or isn't is purely subjective.

I am just saying that it is my nature.

Now most of you will say that's not the problem and again, I also understand that. That trait alone is not a problem but it becomes one when it is paired with my second trait .... Short chapters.

When I started writing this fic, I wanted to keep to 1 chapter a day. During the early chapters which majority of you should remember, I dished out 12-15 chapters a week for five consecutive weeks.

To achieve that, my chapters were usually between 1400-2000 chapters and rarely exceeded it.

Now that my upload quality is no longer that high, it becomes a problem. Because I have the seemingly desire for buildup, but now I give out less chapters. Again, this is something I can't change.

I don't write these chapters full and then break them in half to lengthen chapter count.

I write as much as I can and stop somewhere between 1500-2000 chapters nowadays, then I post.

To those who recently tuned in as new readers, you guys don't complain. To those following day by day, it becomes a problem.

It's the truth regardless of whether you believe me or not.

Most of you might get annoyed and like I said, I don't blame you. It gets annoying waiting for chapters and having it end up not satisfying. I am readying two novels that do exactly that now.

The solution would be to simply stock up chapters and post them all once a week here on webnovel.

However, I don't want to do that. I personally prefer dropping once per day to keep the algorithm up to gather new readers. I also like the Powerstones I received each day. It's nowhere near those peak five weeks where we always finished number one, but finishing in the top Five each week is nice to see regardless.

It's motivating to any author. So yeah, that's it.

I am under a lot of stress on my end concerning other matters so I can't dedicate my time to lengthening my chapters beyond what I can currently achieve without stressing myself even further.

Sorry.

Now for those who feel this isn't the problem and that my general writing quality or story direction is just getting worse.

To you guys, I don't know what to say either. I put a lot of thought into making sure events follow each other and that there are Butterfly effects and changes that make the story not just the generic MHA with an SI addition.

I might be wrong but I haven't seen myself step into any Major landmines so far. That's how a lot of people felt turned off over his hero name in chapter 70-71. Well it doesn't really have much significance now, does it?

The current arc is taking the MC away from U.A because I have looked ahead and genuinely couldn't find anynof the following arcs interesting to write and saw possible complications I didn't want to have to deal with so I stirred this way.

The MC is strong. I saw no interest in writing final exams. I saw no interest in writing summer camp. The problem of Bakugo getting kidnapped and the MC either saying or not saying anything is something I didn't want to have to deal with.

I didn't want to write MHA with a +1.

If you feel this is not what you wanted in an MHA Fanfic, then by all means feel free to leave.

I am not the best writer out there. There are people better in different areas and similar ones. But please stop criticizing my development while putting yourself on the high ground like I genuinely made a mistake when you just don't like the developments of events yet don't frame it as such. For example I got a review where someone said I hate my MC and put him in all sorts of terrible situations and it would have been better if he did exist as nothing good has come out of him existing and used that as a justification for why I got a 1 star review.

I the author, hate my Main character 😂😂😂. I genuinely couldn't feel bad even if I wanted to for crying out loud.

In comparison, another reader told me he liked the story but unfortunately wouldn't be able to continue because he felt like my fight scenes weren't up to his expectations. Wording is important people.

Note I am not talking to everyone. The Majority of you put your opinions quite well.

That's all I have to say.

Goodnight
