Hey Guys. New Week, New Chapters ... Sorta.
For our weekly dose of Author -reader interaction week, I feel it important to chat with you all, ask a few questions that I really need answers to and explain my current mood.
First off, thanks for all your support ...
Second, we officially dropped out of the Top 1 last week. Finished top 3 with 3700 + Powerstones, which is actually better than my previous best days I might add.
Not surprising really. The transition between major arcs was there, the whole naming thing received some backlash (Those who remained are honestly more than I hoped for because ... Well, there's still 4.5k plus of you reading each day) and the chapter word count is pretty short but I'll talk about that in a minute.
Third ... I think I feel burned out here.
Let me ask something.
I know what to write, but not how to put it specifically. I could If I took the time to think about it but I sincerely don't feel like it at the moment.
Is that burnout? Or is it just a loss of interest?
I purposely keep chapters at a minimum of 1350 words and usually a maximum of 2000 (I think I have exceeded this twice or thrice) though I admit I have reached the minimum more times than I have the maximum, precisely to make maintaining one chapter per day easier for me.
The cliffhangers you all complain about is a result of this, not my deliberate actions. Usually the chapters round up around 1350 - 1550 so I usually just leave it there.
The cliffhangers are not intentional. I am not a ... What's the word for it?
Though now I don't really feel as excited to write as I previously did. What do you think? Any advice?
Now to address the issue of short chapters.
First off, someone proposed I stopped dropping one chapter a day and instead do a massive release once a week instead.
I want to hear your thoughts. Alongside any other ideas you might have. I have given thought to increasing the word count though if I go through with it, you probably won't see any changes for the first few chapters. Perhaps it's what's contributing to my .. current mood.
