Is he alright?
Kakashi gazed at the emotional fluctuations that were practically flooding the screen in his mind, his expression turning somewhat subtle.
"Hokage-sama, these are the replies from the other four Kage."
At that moment, the office door was pushed open. Kurenai Yuhi, dressed in her red and white outfit, walked in holding a stack of documents.
"What did they say?"
As Kurenai handed the documents to Kakashi, she began to speak:
"The Tsuchikage, Kazekage, and Raikage have all agreed to attend the wedding."
"However, the Mizukage of the Hidden Mist Village stated that he is tied up with government affairs and cannot leave. Therefore, he will send someone else to attend in his place. He also sends his congratulations on Hokage-sama's marriage."
Kakashi flipped through the reply from the Hidden Mist Village in his hand, the corners of his mouth curling into a smile with an indiscernible meaning. This left Kurenai slightly puzzled.
Kakashi knew perfectly well that Obito Uchiha was likely afraid that the abnormality of him controlling the Mizukage would be detected by the Hyūga clan's Byakugan, so he didn't let the Mizukage attend.
What Kakashi hadn't expected, however, was that he would send the future Fifth Mizukage to attend the wedding in his place.
In a sense, this could still be considered a gathering of the Five Kage.
"What is it?"
Seeing that Kurenai Yuhi was lingering before him, Kakashi looked up at the beauty.
"Um... Happy wedding."
Looking at the man in front of her, a trace of sorrow and envy flashed through Kurenai's eyes.
"Is that so..."
Kakashi looked at the woman before him, a gaze of ambiguous meaning flashing briefly through his pitch-black eyes.
Hidden within the gaze Kurenai directed at the man before her was a possessiveness she could barely suppress.
It wouldn't be long before Kakashi was married.
If she hesitated now, she feared she would completely lose her chance in the future.
Her father had said that everything must be fought for and won by oneself.
Ninjutsu is like that. Ninja tools are like that. Missions are like that.
Even men are like that.
Kurenai knew she was doing something excessive, but she couldn't suppress her thoughts about this man.
She summoned her courage and walked step by step to Kakashi's side. Kakashi, for his part, watched her with a smile in his eyes that was hard to read.
He certainly knew what Kurenai was thinking.
But Kakashi had never rejected her from the start.
It was just like Kakashi's own self-perception.
He was never an upstanding gentleman, nor was he a decent, good person.
Faced with Kurenai's initiative, he had no reason to refuse.
As Kurenai drew closer, Kakashi simply watched her calmly.
"You've always known..."
Kurenai looked at Kakashi sitting in the seat that belonged to the Hokage. Her expression showed a hint of hesitation as she wanted to say something, but Kakashi simply took hold of her smooth wrist.
The heat radiating from his palm made Kurenai's heart beat rapidly, and the words she wanted to say next were forcefully swallowed back.
The current Kakashi was a man with a marriage contract, but Kurenai didn't want to care about that anymore.
Kurenai used to think she was just coveting Kakashi's appearance, feeling that she was a superficial woman.
But after witnessing Kakashi's unopposed toughness and the authority no one dared to touch that day, she realized her previous thoughts were wrong.
There are countless handsome men in this world.
But there is only one like Kakashi.
Kurenai wasn't obsessed with having power herself, but she was obsessed with the man who held such things.
And it was Kakashi—an existence who was extremely excellent in every aspect.
The woman, carrying a faint fragrance, leaned down and pressed on Kakashi's shoulders. Looking at Kakashi close at hand, those moist, vermilion eyes were full of greed for the existence before her.
Soft and burning lips actively met Kakashi's.
Who knows how much time passed, but when the two separated, a glistening, translucent thread connected them under the sunlight shining through the window.
Kurenai, her face flushed, slumped weakly against Kakashi's body. Resting her head on his chest with unsteady breathing, she wanted to undo the man's clothes.
"Someone is coming."
Kakashi's words caused her to stand up in a panic, quickly tidying her messy clothes.
"I... I'll be at home. To... tonight, I'll wait for you."
Kurenai didn't even know what she was saying herself. After hurriedly dropping those words, she flew out of the office.
"Kurenai?"
Yugao Uzuki had intended to discuss the recent work handover with Kurenai, but who would have thought the other woman would leave as if she were fleeing?
"Yugao?"
Inside the office, Kakashi had already sensed the identity of the visitor.
"Hokage-sama, the Tsuchikage and Kazekage have arrived at the Land of Fire's border. The Raikage has also departed from his country."
Yugao Uzuki handed the latest intelligence to Kakashi.
"I understand. You may leave."
Kakashi took the file with a lack of interest and set it aside.
"Uh, yes. Understood."
Seeing this, Yugao could only nod and prepare to leave. However, Kakashi suddenly spoke up:
"Security in the village needs to be strengthened recently. Notify the Hyūga, Inuzuka, and Aburame clans to be fully prepared."
"You are in charge of this."
Yugao nodded but said with some hesitation:
"Then, regarding your daily work, Hokage-sama..."
Kakashi dismissed this concern lightly:
"Kurenai can handle those matters."
"You should complete the handover with Kurenai tomorrow."
Tomorrow?
Yugao didn't think much of it and nodded in acknowledgment.
Just at the end, Kakashi added another sentence:
"You're twenty now. You should hurry up and settle things with Hayate."
Hearing Kakashi say this, Yugao Uzuki's face turned slightly red as she muttered, "I know."
Yugao Uzuki and Moonlight Hayate had been together since the Ninja Academy.
Counting the days, it had been over ten years now; their relationship could be said to be quite solid.
Watching Yugao's retreating figure, Kakashi's eyelids lowered slightly.
Compared to Hikari, perhaps due to her personality, Kurenai was more proactive—actually leaving behind such a sentence before she left.
Kakashi's expression was a bit subtle at this moment.
Since the lady had actively invited him, should he go or not?
Meanwhile, Kurenai ran all the way back home and buried herself under the covers.
What happened just now was far too stimulating for someone who had never been in a relationship before.
In the end, she had even dropped a line telling Kakashi to come to her place tonight...
What on earth was I thinking back then?!
Kurenai felt she had been a bit too hasty.
But the words had already been spoken, and there was no possibility of taking them back.
So, what should she do tonight?
Will Kakashi actually come?
If he really comes, should she just give in decisively, or hesitate a bit before giving in?
