Chapter 50 - "Dragon Balls! Make a Wish!"

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

"Dragon Ball? Harry, you know what this is?"

Gine had immediately caught the shift in how Harry referred to the orb, so she asked—not just out of curiosity, but also to steer the conversation away from the brewing clash between the two kids.

Sure enough, not only did Celari stop being upset, even Bulma's anger vanished. Her big blue eyes sparkled with curiosity as she asked, "So this thing is called a Dragon Ball, big brother?"

Bulma spoke first, and Celari quickly followed: "Harry, what is a Dragon Ball? You look like it's something really important… and shocking."

That was exactly the reaction Harry was aiming for.

He'd "casually" dropped the term Dragon Ball on purpose.

"Speaking of Dragon Balls, we have to talk about the Namekians. According to the intel I've read, Namekians aren't just strong fighters—they also have the ability to create Dragon Balls.

"If I hadn't seen this one myself, I would've thought the whole thing was nonsense. I mean, magical orbs that grant wishes? That shouldn't exist in our world.

"But now that I'm seeing one up close… yeah, I'm certain. This is a Dragon Ball. Most likely made by the Namekian who lives at the Lookout."

He paused there.

"So you're saying this little ball—this Dragon Ball—can grant a person's wishes?" Gine asked, eyes wide.

Celari also stared at the sphere in Bulma's hands, utterly stunned.

Bulma panicked instantly, assuming Celari wanted to snatch it. She hugged the ball tightly to her chest and muttered, "No one's taking my toy!"

As the Capsule Corp heiress, Bulma had grown up never being denied anything—and never having anything stolen from her. Naturally, she was extremely possessive.

Celari rolled her eyes. Harry could only sigh helplessly.

"There are seven Dragon Balls in total," Harry explained. "Each has a different number of stars inside. If you gather all seven, you can summon Shenron, and he'll grant a wish. The one Bulma is holding should be the Two-Star Ball." He paused, sinking into thought again.

He'd brought up the Dragon Balls naturally enough, and he could handwave all the intel as something he learned back on Planet Vegeta—which no longer existed to contradict him.

"Is all of that true? Harry, where did you even get this information?" Gine asked again, astonished.

Harry's knowledge of Namekians and Dragon Balls—no, not just that, other things too…

It hit her then.

Over half a year had passed since they fled Planet Vegeta. Only now did Gine realize that the Harry standing beside her was no longer quite the boy she thought she knew.

He was still Harry, but he knew far more than she did—far more than any child his age should. Even though she had traveled more and lived longer, she felt like she knew nothing in comparison.

For the first time, Gine looked at him differently.

A strange thought stirred in her chest—just how much does this kid know? And how much is he hiding?

"I just stumbled across some Namekian intel once," Harry replied lightly. "I was curious, so I looked into it. That's all."

Gine didn't pursue it further, but her thoughts clearly didn't stop.

Harry knew this was unavoidable. Better to brush it off than explain too much.

He recalled the "other timeline" he remembered—the one where Namekians and Dragon Balls were already known to the Saiyans. Bardock had even used a Dragon Ball on Planet Cereal to wish for his son's healthy growth.

Whether that had happened in this world… Harry had no idea.

He used to wonder if that wish was the reason Kakarot and Raditz survived long enough to grow up. And when Raditz later came to Earth, maybe Shenron's power clashed with fate, forcing things toward tragedy.

But who could know for sure?

"So if we gather all seven Dragon Balls, any wish can come true?!" Bulma suddenly burst out.

Her excitement instantly shifted the mood again.

She was young—brilliant, but still a child. Instead of focusing on the implications Harry hinted at, all she heard was wishes.

Her reaction satisfied Harry. This was exactly what he wanted: to spark her interest early. Knowing Bulma, she'd quickly look for a way to track down the rest.

Wishes were simply too tempting.

And not just for Bulma—Gine and Celari felt that pull too.

"If the Dragon Balls can really summon a dragon to grant wishes… then could we wish Planet Vegeta back to normal?" Celari asked suddenly.

Gine and Harry both froze.

They looked at her, seeing the faint melancholy in her eyes.

To her, Planet Vegeta was home. Family. Even after six months, that sense of loss hadn't faded.

"Even if the Dragon Balls work… wishing for something that big might be impossible," Gine said softly. It sounded unrealistic even to her.

Harry added, "We can try. I'm not optimistic, but… I do have another idea. If Uncle Bardock or Raditz are in trouble—or even worse—we might be able to use the Dragon Balls to bring them back."

This had been his plan from the beginning. Whether Earth's Shenron could actually handle such requests… they'd find out.

Gine and Celari's expressions shifted instantly.

Especially Gine—she looked almost breathless.

This was a new kind of hope. She understood what Harry was implying: if Shenron could grant wishes… he might even revive the dead.

Which meant they didn't have to fear the worst anymore.

"But Earth is huge. Finding the Dragon Balls won't be easy. If we had some kind of device that could locate them, like…" Harry purposely trailed off, letting the hint sink in.

Gine and Celari understood immediately—it sounded like a scouter, except for Dragon Balls instead of power levels.

Bulma frowned deeply, processing his words. After a long moment, she seemed inspired by something.

Without a word, she clutched her Dragon Ball and dashed upstairs to her room.

Probably to start researching already.

"..."
