The demon commander's hands trembled.
Not from exhaustion.
Not from fear of death.
But from the overwhelming realization that Lord Zenin had yet to make a single serious move.
The golden energy gathered at Zenin's fingertips continued to grow.
Calm.
Controlled.
Deadly.
The commander clenched his jaw and roared, forcing every ounce of Manarai Energy he possessed to erupt from his body.
Dark flames exploded around him.
The ground beneath his feet collapsed.
Nearby guards shielded their faces from the violent shockwave.
Yet Zenin remained unmoved.
The golden energy surrounding him didn't even flicker.
"Enough."
With a flick of his finger, the gathered energy shot forward.
The attack wasn't flashy.
It wasn't accompanied by a deafening explosion.
It was simply a thin golden beam.
The commander instinctively raised his sword.
The beam struck.
For a moment, nothing happened.
Then the black flames surrounding the demon vanished.
His sword shattered.
A shockwave erupted behind him, tearing a path across the battlefield and into the distant hills.
The commander's eyes widened.
Blood spilled from his mouth.
His knees buckled.
"What... was that?"
Zenin lowered his hand.
"A lesson."
The demon collapsed onto one knee.
The battle was over.
Every demon present knew it.
The commander stared at the shattered remains of his sword.
Years of training.
Countless battles.
All rendered meaningless by a single attack.
A bitter laugh escaped his lips.
"So this is the strength of the Lord of Yurai."
Zenin began walking toward him.
Each step felt heavier than the last.
The surrounding demons slowly backed away.
None dared interfere.
The traveler watched in silence.
Even he could tell the difference now.
Raizen had been fighting an opponent.
Zenin was dealing with a problem.
The commander looked up.
"What now?"
Zenin stopped before him.
"You return to whoever sent you."
The demon frowned.
"And if I refuse?"
Zenin's eyes glowed.
"Then you'll join your ancestors."
The answer came so quickly that the commander couldn't help but laugh again.
A painful, defeated laugh.
For the first time that day, he sheathed what remained of his broken weapon.
Then he slowly rose to his feet.
The demons around him looked confused.
"Retreat," he ordered.
None of them argued.
Within moments, the remaining demons began withdrawing from the village.
The commander was the last to leave.
Before disappearing into the forest, he turned toward the traveler.
Their eyes met.
"I don't know what makes you so valuable."
His gaze shifted briefly to Zenin.
"But if people are willing to challenge Yurai for you..."
His expression darkened.
"...then this is only the beginning."
With that, he vanished into the darkness.
Silence settled over the battlefield.
The war cries were gone.
The clash of weapons had ceased.
Only the destruction remained.
The traveler let out a slow breath.
"It's over."
"No," Zenin replied.
The traveler looked at him.
The Lord of Yurai was staring toward the horizon.
His expression had become unreadable.
"This was merely a warning."
And for the first time since arriving in the village, the traveler wondered if the demons had ever been the true threat
The traveler followed Zenin's gaze toward the horizon.
Nothing was there.
Just distant mountains and the fading light of the evening sun.
Yet the Lord of Yurai continued staring.
As if he could see something nobody else could.
The traveler broke the silence.
"What did that demon mean?"
Zenin turned away.
"It means others are looking for you."
The answer only raised more questions.
"Who?"
"I don't know."
The traveler frowned.
"You don't know?"
Zenin began walking toward the castle.
"No. But whoever they are, they have enough influence to convince demons to invade Yurai territory."
That alone was troubling.
The traveler glanced toward the injured Raizen.
Several healers had already surrounded him.
Though barely conscious, he was alive.
The traveler sighed in relief.
At least the captain would survive.
As they entered the castle, the guards pushed open the massive doors to the throne hall.
The atmosphere inside felt different than before.
More serious.
More tense.
Zenin sat upon his throne while the traveler stood before him.
For a while, neither spoke.
Then Zenin asked a simple question.
"What is your name?"
The traveler hesitated.
He had spent so long running that he almost forgot the importance of introductions.
"...Kai."
Zenin nodded.
"Very well, Kai."
The Lord's golden eyes studied him carefully.
"Tell me everything."
Kai spent the next hour explaining his journey.
The strange incidents.
The people who had pursued him.
The demons.
The rumors surrounding his Ability.
When he finally finished, the hall fell silent.
Zenin leaned back in thought.
"So even you don't know what makes your Ability special."
Kai shook his head.
"I've never even used it properly."
That was the truth.
Whenever he attempted to activate it, nothing happened.
No explosion of power.
No transformation.
Nothing.
Yet countless people seemed interested in it.
It made no sense.
Zenin suddenly stood.
"Come with me."
Kai blinked.
"Where?"
"The Archives."
A few minutes later, they descended deep beneath the castle.
The underground chambers stretched for what seemed like miles.
Ancient books lined countless shelves.
Dust covered most of them.
The deeper they went, the older everything became.
Eventually, they arrived before a massive stone door.
Zenin placed his hand upon it.
Golden energy flowed from his palm.
The door slowly opened.
Kai's eyes widened.
Inside was a circular chamber.
At its center stood a black stone covered in ancient symbols.
The moment Kai stepped inside, the symbols began to glow.
Zenin noticed immediately.
"So it reacts to you."
Kai stared at the stone.
A strange feeling washed over him.
It felt familiar.
Almost like he had seen it before.
Then, without warning, one of the symbols lit up completely.
The chamber trembled.
A low rumble echoed through the underground halls.
Kai instinctively stepped back.
"What did I do?"
Zenin's expression hardened.
"You activated it."
"Activated what?"
For the first time that day, Lord Zenin looked genuinely concerned.
"The Gate of Records."
The glowing symbols continued spreading across the stone.
One after another.
Ancient light filled the chamber.
"The gate of records?!" Kai exclaimed
"You possess the heart of manarai you're obviously meant to know how to use your powers" zenin said calmly as the room shook due to the force of the seal opening
Suddenly,Kai's eyes began to glow faint white and he began to sync with the gate of records obtaining infinite information within second
Zenin noticing this immediately cut off the flow of energy interrupting the process
Kai fell to his knees gasping as he held is head tightly
"What just happened to me"
"The gate of records attempted to fuse with you very existence granting you infinite knowledge but I stopped it" zenin said
"Why?!" Kai demanded as he slowly stood
"Because you're still weak"zenin said bluntly as he sighed
"An attempt to fuse with the gate of records at your current level with lead to your very demise" zenin pointed out .
"With your large pool of manarai energy, you'll make a fine warrior" zenin added as he smirked send a chill down Kai's spine
"Prepare yourself.. training starts tomorrow"zenin said as he walked away quickly
