Chapter 155 - Chapter 156: The Great Tokyo Riot

"Mr. Akai, are you sure? Is this woman experiencing headaches because of stimulation from colors?"

Kazami Yuya of the Japanese Security Bureau asked with a frown.

Although he was very displeased with these FBI agents, there was nothing he could do. Facing them, even he, a member of the Security Bureau, had to lower his head.

Shuichi took out the five-color card Curacao carried with her. "It was this kid who reminded me of the four-color memory method."

"This isn't like a memory maze. It's a general memory method, though rather rare, and its effectiveness hasn't been fully proven."

"But this woman can instantly recall so much content. She must have her own technique."

"The fact that she carries this kind of card likely means she uses the colors to assist her in memorizing important information."

As he said this, Shuichi also glanced at Conan.

Conan quickly gave a silly smile, his face saying, "I don't know anything."

Only then did Megure notice him and exclaim, "Conan, what are you doing here?"

Conan quickly explained that he was playing with other kids and happened to see Curacao at the amusement park.

Megure sighed repeatedly. "How are you just like Mouri? Trouble follows you wherever you go."

Conan gave an awkward smile.

Maybe, just maybe, this really had nothing to do with Uncle Mouri. It seemed like trouble followed him instead.

However, Conan himself would never admit that. He believed it was Heaven urging him to use his deductive abilities, which was why he kept getting sent to crime scenes.

Kazami, being sharp enough to make it into the Security Bureau, quickly caught on. "On the Ferris wheel, this woman saw colors similar to the five-color card, and that may have triggered her memory."

"I see, it was the lights!"

Kazami suddenly understood.

Shuichi nodded calmly.

Fortunately, these Japanese agents weren't complete fools. At least they could figure out something this obvious.

"When is the next light show?"

Shuichi asked.

"Six o'clock in the evening."

"So there's less than two hours. Head to the Aquarium now. Get on the Ferris wheel, and once the light show starts, let her see the lights to see if her memory returns."

"Yes!"

"Jodie, go up the Ferris wheel with them."

Shuichi ordered the short-haired blonde woman standing next to him.

"Okay."

Kazami's expression darkened. Having an FBI agent accompany them made it clear they didn't trust the Public Security Bureau.

But there was nothing he could do. He could only obey.

After thinking for a moment, Shuichi added, "This woman once stole a lot of critical data. That Organization won't let her fall into our hands so easily."

"There's a high chance they'll try to rescue her. Your Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department should also be on alert. It'd be best to prepare heavy weapons."

In truth, Shuichi didn't want the Tokyo MPD involved. The two groups weren't even on the same level.

The Tokyo MPD officers were, at best, detectives, while the Black Organization would likely send battle-hardened mercenaries.

But the FBI had too few agents in Japan, and he didn't have the authority to mobilize the Self-Defense Forces. He had no choice but to rely on the Tokyo MPD.

Megure was stunned. Prepare heavy firepower? Are we going to war?

He quickly asked, "What Organization? Can't you tell us more clearly?"

Shuichi shook his head. "That's classified. I can't tell you. I just want to know if you have heavy weapons."

Megure quickly had his men prepare. Soon, they brought out a few domestically-made Type 90 assault rifles.

"Recently, there have been ongoing terrorist incidents in Japan. The higher-ups equipped the Tokyo MPD with a few assault rifles."

Shuichi was speechless.

Just a few rifles? Forget it, it's better than nothing. This is the Tokyo MPD, after all. What kind of advanced weapons could they possibly have?

"Then bring all the weapons."

Standing nearby, Conan was ecstatic.

The FBI knew about the Black Organization and had been fighting them all this time.

This was probably the best news he'd heard since shrinking.

Based on known information, both the CIA and FBI were aware of the Organization. While the CIA's motives were unclear, the FBI seemed actively focused on pursuing them.

He, Kudo Shinichi, wasn't fighting alone. He had strong allies.

But at the same time, Conan felt a chill run down his spine.

An Organization being targeted by the CIA, FBI, and possibly other intelligence agencies, yet still alive and active. That Organization was even more terrifying than he had imagined.

Especially the fact that they dared to infiltrate the CIA's Japan Security Bureau, steal data, and actually succeeded. That was insane.

...

Toru said goodbye to Rena and returned to the Aquarium.

Since Spencer had demanded that he kill a core member of the Black Organization as a warning, he couldn't stay out of it.

After five in the afternoon, Toru found Hayasaka and Haibara. The two had spent the entire afternoon playing at the Aquarium.

Haibara looked cold on the outside but was warm inside. Though sharp-tongued, she had a kind heart.

Hayasaka had seen the ups and downs of human relationships since she was young. She might not be socially adept, but she could read the atmosphere well. Because of that, the two got along surprisingly well.

"Young Master Fujiwara!"

After a whole day of fun, Hayasaka's energy remained high. Her mood was great.

Getting a day off wasn't easy, so of course she had to enjoy it to the fullest.

Oh wait, it wasn't just a day. Toru had given her an extra day off.

She decided not to return to the Shinomiya estate today. She'd go back to her real home and sleep in tomorrow. No way she'd wake up before noon.

"Hayasaka, did you have fun? Haibara didn't give you any trouble, did she?"

Haibara glanced at Toru.

Unhappy.

Hayasaka smiled sweetly. "I had a great time. I haven't felt this happy in a long while. Haibara Ai was also quite obedient. No trouble at all."

"It would've been even better if Young Master Fujiwara had played with us too."

Her eyes sparkled as she looked at Toru with admiration. That gentle, dependent expression made people want to protect her.

What is this woman acting all weak for?

Hayasaka's personality changed at will. This fragile demeanor was clearly an act to soften a man's heart.

"Young Master Fujiwara, shall we go eat? My treat. There's also a light show at six. I'm so excited."

"A light show..."

Toru looked at the Ferris wheel.

If his guess was correct, the Black Organization should be making their move soon.

"Alright, I'll let Hayasaka treat us."

"Hehe~ It's my pleasure!"

They said they'd go eat, but at this time, all the restaurants in the Aquarium were packed.

Left with no choice, Hayasaka queued up at an outdoor food stall and bought snacks for the three of them.

"Sorry, Young Master Fujiwara. This is all I could get."

The three found a spot by the roadside to sit down. Hayasaka held out takoyaki and other snacks, repeatedly apologizing.

"It's fine. Eating at a place like this is always a hassle. We'll go for a proper meal tonight."

Seeing Toru so understanding, not even caring about eating convenience store-level food by the roadside despite being the Fujiwara family's heir, Hayasaka felt a strange sense of jealousy toward Kaguya.

Why do you get all the luck? Born into the Shinomiya family, and you even have such an incredible fiancé?

She didn't dare to dwell on it. Thinking too much would only make her feel worse.

As it approached six o'clock, the Aquarium turned into a sea of joy.

All the shops and lights came on. Upbeat music echoed throughout the venue.

The light show would last at least two hours. Since animal performances couldn't be held in the evening, this show had become the highlight.

Hayasaka also stood up excitedly. She wasn't rushing to get a spot. This was a park-wide show, and it looked the same no matter where you watched from.

But just as the light show began, a discordant sound rang out.

Dozens of police cars, flashing red and blue, pulled up outside the Aquarium.

Over two hundred Tokyo MPD officers got out.

A Tokyo MPD official was directing the scene. They practically sealed off the Aquarium. At this point, Megure could only follow orders like a foot soldier.

Their arrival caused a stir among the visitors.

"What's going on? Was there a murder?"

"No way. Even for a murder, you wouldn't need this many cops."

"I just checked online. There's no news about anything happening here."

Inside the Aquarium, people were buzzing with curiosity.

"Commander, should we disperse all the tourists?"

A Tokyo MPD officer asked.

The commander hesitated.

Evacuating everyone without a good reason? He wouldn't be able to explain that.

There were not only local Japanese visitors, but also many foreign tourists. He couldn't make that call lightly.

Especially since nothing had happened yet. Evacuating just because a suspect might regain her memory would be overkill.

"No need to disperse. Proceed with the original plan."

"Yes!"

At the Ferris wheel, Kazami of the Public Security Bureau and Jodie from the FBI entered one of the cabins. They handcuffed Curacao to the railing.

Inside, Shuichi was already in position.

If the Organization came to rescue Curacao, they'd definitely show up here.

But what he didn't expect was to see a familiar face.

"You?"

It was Rei Furuya.

...

At the same time, at a private airfield in Tokyo, Gin put away his phone. "Time's up. Take off."

"Buzz buzz buzz buzz."

The Osprey helicopter's rotors started spinning.

On the Aquarium's shoreline, a group of elite mercenaries surfaced from underwater. They wore tactical suits, held rifles, and scanned the surroundings as they stepped ashore.

Tequila, leading them, said, "The money's been transferred to your account. A speedboat is ready for you at Tokyo Bay."

"There's also a cargo ship waiting on the open sea. Your job now is to cause chaos here, the more the better. Make it look like a full-blown terrorist attack."

The Black Organization, mobilized.
