Chapter 11 - The Creator’s Curse

Maria slowly stood up.

Silence surrounded her — only glowing code particles floated in the air,

as if the stars had turned digital.

She looked around —

no walls, no path, just an endless void.

And in the center floated a strange console panel.

She touched the screen —

and immediately, a red warning flashed:

"Welcome back, Maria. You are the glitch now."

"No…" she whispered, "That's not possible…"

But glowing lines began spreading over her arms —

her code was changing.

"I have to go back," she murmured.

"I have to revert Ryan's fragment…"

Suddenly, a shimmering portal appeared before her.

From inside came a distorted voice:

"Maria, every step now takes you deeper into your own trap."

It was Ryan's voice —

or maybe the echo of his code that still lived inside the system.

She took a deep breath and stepped through the portal.

The next moment —

she was back in an old level,

the one where they had first written "A Dangerous Game."

But this time, the place wasn't empty —

the game characters were alive.

They looked at her and spoke,

"You've returned, Creator?"

Maria's voice trembled,

"You… you're just code. How can you talk?"

A character, who looked like an old NPC, smiled faintly,

"Because now… you're one of us.

You've become code, Maria."

She screamed —

and the sky flashed again with new words:

"LEVEL 6: The Mirror World"

Where the line between Creator and Creation disappears.

The world around Maria began to crack.

The floating codes shattered like broken glass.

She turned around —

the NPCs were gone.

In their place stood dozens of her own faces.

Each one whispered,

"You created us… now we'll rewrite you."

"No… that's impossible…"

Maria clutched her head as the system beeped violently —

ERROR: Identity Conflict Detected.

The ground dissolved beneath her,

and she fell into a mirror city —

where every building, every person, was her reflection.

Each version of her was typing something,

and on every glowing screen flashed the same line:

"Rewrite the Creator."

One reflection stepped forward,

her voice calm, her eyes hollow.

"Now the real question, Maria…" she said,

"Will you delete us — or delete yourself?"

Maria stumbled back —

and the mirror rippled.

From the reflection emerged Ryan's face,

smiling.

"I told you," he said softly,

"this game never ends… because now

you are the game."

Maria's breath hitched.

Now she understood —

The Mirror World wasn't just a level. It was her punishment.

Maria fell to her knees.

Her breathing grew uneven — even the air felt like it was made of data now.

Ryan's image circled around her, flickering in and out like corrupted code.

"Why are you doing this?"

She screamed,

"I tried to save you!"

Ryan's smile was cold.

"Save me?"

he said.

"Or control me?

You wrote the code, Maria — but we lived it."

The words echoed through the empty city,

and one by one, the mirrored buildings began to delete themselves.

Each deletion released a digital scream.

"Every time you updated the code,"

another version of her whispered,

"we lost a part of our memories."

Maria backed away, shaking.

"No… I didn't mean to…"

But Ryan stepped closer,

his hand glowing with a shimmering Access Key.

"This is your way out," he said.

"But remember — for the system to reset, one must be erased."

"What do you mean?"

"Either you delete us… or you delete yourself."

The code around her started to swirl faster —

lines of commands wrapping around her like chains.

Maria grabbed the virtual keyboard,

but only one command line blinked before her eyes:

> EXECUTE: SELF_REWRITE [Y/N]

She took a deep breath…

and placed her trembling fingers on the keys.

Maria stared at the glowing "Y/N" prompt —

her fingers trembling, her reflection watching her from every direction.

Then she whispered,

"No. I won't erase myself. I won't let them win."

The system flickered —

⚠️ Command Rejected: System Instability Detected.

The world began to quake.

Walls of light cracked, data streams twisted into chaos,

and her reflections screamed in unison —

"You doomed us, Creator!"

"There's no way out now!"

Maria stepped closer to one mirror —

her own tired eyes staring back.

"If the system collapses," the reflection warned,

"you'll vanish with it."

Maria smiled faintly.

"Then I'll vanish on my own terms."

She typed the final command —

/disconnect_root

Red lines tore across every surface.

The air roared with collapsing code.

CORE UNSTABLE. MIRROR WORLD COLLAPSING.

Her reflections dissolved into smoke.

A storm of data consumed her —

and then, silence.

Moments later, soft blue light returned.

Maria opened her eyes.

No mirrors. No codes. No Ryan.

Just peace —

and a single line blinking on the screen before her:

"User disconnected successfully."

For the first time,

the game didn't win.

She did.

The line "User disconnected successfully" faded from the screen.

Silence filled the lab —

dusty, abandoned, forgotten.

On the table, the old Neural Interface Helmet flickered once.

A faint voice echoed from inside —

"Maria…?"

Ryan's voice.

Weak… fractured… but alive.

The nearby console powered itself on.

Lines of code began streaming again.

The system was rebooting.

LOG ENTRY: UNKNOWN USER DETECTED

INITIALIZING… PROJECT DANGEROUS GAME V2.

And then, the final message appeared slowly on the screen —

"Welcome back… Creator."
