After Renee Morgan went up to wake him, she was just about to ask if he'd heard any noises, or if anyone had gotten up—maybe the sounds were just someone from their own tents getting up in the middle of the night for a bathroom break.
Suddenly, a strange noise came from the woods not far from the tents, instantly putting her on high alert.
"Lionel, wake up, quick. Someone's out there." Renee looked at the half-asleep Lionel Lincoln, yanked him up, and forced him to snap out of it.
Lionel was startled, and stared at Renee with a blank face. "Who?"
Renee tugged him backwards, staring into the thick darkness at the rustling branches not far off, then shouted toward the tents behind her: "Everyone, get up! Someone's coming—get up, now!"
The first group's teammates all got up almost at the same time, crawling out of their tents one after another.
Zayed glanced at Lionel, who was supposed to be on night watch, a question in his eyes: "Where are they?"
